Yes. The **** comes with the cap and silver trim ring, which has a different graphic for volume (left) and item selector (right).

In 30 years time, the original sticky ***** will be the ones the collectors want in their barn find 997s. What have we done?

3 Years later, my IPA/ Alcohol cleaned k no b s are still perfectly clean and smooth. Apperently the stickiness doesn't come back.

The alcohol dissolves the coating.

Best way to remove the sticky from the radio ***** without changing them is with GooGone, this will remove the sticky cover on them and leave the plastic underneath clean, I did this on my 997.1 that had the same issue.

Mercedes Benz has the same sticky issue with their 2005-2009 models - The light switch and entire housing become sticky as well as the radio *****.
Turns into quite the mess

I'll double down on Teebone's post. My, dare I say it without causing you guys to giggle, ***** were sticky (gooey really) and I cleaned them up with some rubbing alcohol and a terry cloth towel. All is well now.
