Default Automatic re-locking; did you know?

Did not know until today that if you unlock your car and do not open the doors, the car will re-lock automatically in about 90 seconds.

Safety feature - read all about it in the Owners Manual.

From the manual:

Automatic relocking
If the car is unlocked by remote control and none
of the car doors is opened within approx.
60 seconds, automatic relocking takes place.
This relocking time can be adapted to your individual
requirements (10 - 100 seconds) by an authorized
Porsche dealer

Yeah, annoying.

I wonder if it is possible to recode this with a Durametric, I do not remember seeing the option in the PCM.

Why is it annoying? If one unlocks a car to leave it unlocked, just open a door and close it and it does not auto-relock.

Auto-relock is a feature for those instances when someone accidentally unlocks a car and walks away unknowingly in a parking lot.

It should be an option, not only to change the delay, but also the ability to turn it off completely. Just like some people would rather not have the seat belt reminder.

Yes it is annoying. If you are not close enough to your car to open the door... then yeah, it is annoying.

If you like it, good for you. But, I find it very annoying.

Annoying.... too short for me.

I will take a look with my Durametric this weekend on extending the time.

Peace

I'm indifferent to it. Of the last four cars I've owned, they all do this. It's a safety item and it's just the new norm. Sorry to those that find it annoying and I respect that, but for me, after 90 +/- seconds, I'm not getting in my car. It's a simple fix to just wait until I am close to the car to unlock it.

What's most annoying is the lack of a separate lock and unlock button on the Key Fob. :/

Can't you just get a 3 button shell from eBay or something and transplant? I know the 3 button peeps like the 2 button and do transplants.

Not sure if would work though.

Yes, I have known about this function since my 996 ownership days and I like it. I like not having to use separate lock & unlock buttons as there is no need for separate buttons. If the car is locked and you press the lock/unlock button, it unlocks the car. If it is unlocked and you press the button, it will lock the car. It is really a very simple and functional design.

Also with on less button, the key is lighter, which makes the car go faster!
