Why don't we drive our cars more?
When the marque began, and for the next 50 years, Porsches were mostly used as daily drivers. I drove my 308 34 thousand miles in 2.5 years and drove the average same milage with my 964 and 993...and I worked out of my home.
Is it prices and maintanence/repair costs that is making us drive our Porsches less? Porsche now says that the average yearly milage is between six and twelve thousand miles a year.
Sounds like we are paying more and getting less.

I drive one of my Porsches almost daily.
Johnny, realize that most now own multiple vehicles, so the mileage is split up amongst them.

I'm fortunate to live less than a half-mile from work, in a state with mild weather, so I walk when it's nice, or wife drops me off on her way to the office. As a result, car is driven primarily for fun - weekend drives, evenings out, or road trips. Have put 12K miles on it in one year, but half that was several long road trips....T

Because my Porsche is one of several cars in our household. The winters are harsh on cars in the NY Metro area, mostly because of the horrible roads that really screw up the tires, wheels and suspension.
And lets not forget the axxholes who drive their SUVs believing that awd means that their vehicles can turn and stop in snow and on ice better than 2wd vehicles.

My 911 is my daily driver.
It's not just Porsches that are being driven less. Americans are driving less overall. People work from home now or in remote places without having to commute to work every day. Technology has allowed us to replace our commute with a teleconference or WebEx.

Drifting
I have sold my 2oo6 c2s.
It was my DD. 24,ooo kms in 20 months.
2 sets of rear tire, one set of front.
A set of snow tires on rims.
3 oil changes. Water pump, expansion tank, 6 plugs and coils.
One passenger airbag thingy in bumper.
Lowered on H&R's.
Toronto's tectonic roads are alive right now.
3-6 inch heaves, 10" deep pot holes. I don't miss that.
What I miss is the steering feel, on a great road.
The pop of the exhaust against the bridge wall.
Sold it for the millage. Not that I'm scarred of it.
but I was coming up to brakes/pads and maybe a clutch.
I'll be back in, in about a year. I get something with less miles.
It will still be a 997, but a .2
Stick and an S.
I would say "why don't we drive them more?"
Life-
Kids, work, projects.
We are diffidently, as a whole, more than a 3 car group.
Most, the Porsche is the third. They are the toy, or the weekend car.
My 12 year old can pretzel himself into the back seat, under duress. But not for long.
But nothing can replace the smiles per miles factor.
