Default Rough Weekend For Some on Rennlist

I don't like to post things like this, preferring instead to leave it up to those involved to share the facts. Today, however, it was posted on Jalopnik and so it has gone mainstream. I hope everyone involved is in good health and very sorry for the damage to these beautiful cars.

A group from rennlist.com gathered for a drive on Saturday 1-03-15 and unfortunately the most valuable car in the group collided with a full size pickup truck. The RUF Turbo R was then hit by a Porsche 997.2. It sucks when this stuff happens, but all of the drivers walked away with little or no injuries.

Mods: feel free to delete this post if it is determined to be inappropriate. I just don't think Jalopnik will do the same.

I feel better about posting now. It was already up in the ride organizing thread.

Would like to hear from another perspective in the accident.

That is terrible! Good to hear no one was hurt. But that surely hurts.

I was part of the group of about 30 cars that gathered in So San Jose. 10 of us went off on a longer route, the others, including this Ruf, went on a shorter drive.

Don't know who was driving the 997, but am a good friend of the Ruf driver. He's doing as well as can be expected. Physically, some general soreness with a very sore ankle. Emotionally with the loss of the Ruf, it's a bit difficult. See the postings over on the 993 forum for as much info as is out there.

That sucks, needless to say. Glad everyone is okay.

Ouch! What a shame, such a nice one and a great loss. Most important is everyone was safe.

The 997 looks like the one owned by SPDST3R. Not sure if it's his or not but I feel horrible for the owners of both of those cars

Cannot be 100% sure, but it appears this isn't SPDST3R's new ride. The pics he posted on his drive back from CO show colored crests in his wheels. It appears this car has the black crests. Whomever is the owner thank goodness you're ok, and it appears the damage to your car isn't too bad. The 993 Ruf, on the other hand, that's just painful to look at.

Watch those blind corners!

SPDST3R did post he was attending and doing the short ride.

I watched the crash video in HD full screen mode and it looks like colored crests on that car to me. All of the other options match as well. Henry, glad you are OK. Any video?

I think that is SPDST3R, as he bought my 997.2 from Prestige in CO.

Breaking Bad's eyes are better than mine! I think the clincher is the rear wiper. Odds of two grey C2Ss with Turbo wheels and wiper in Bay Area has got to be pretty low. How heartbreaking for SPDST3R. Braves the elements to drive his car back from CO only to meet with bad luck on a short club drive. STINKS!!! But as all have said the most important thing is everyone walked away from this.

As a fellow RUF enthusiast, it's hard to look at those pictures and that car looks to be a total loss, especially the way the roof is bent and the sunroof popped up in the corner.

Glad these drivers are both OK, but man, what a shame about the RUF car.

This same video was posted on flatsixes.com several days ago. It certainly is painful to look at however, the fact that there were no serious injuries was a blessing.
