Default Ventilated seats- school me

How well do they work? Are they worth it? I live in Florida and use and greatly appreciate the cooled seats in my Ford truck virtually every day. I'm obviously looking to buy a 911 for performance but appreciate some comfort too. Thanks.

Definitely get them! If you get a cab you won't "hear" them as much (on high they really blow air) nor will you feel them as much when the top is down but they work. With the top up they really move air through your clothing. And with black seats they are an absolute must IMHO. Only draw back is some don't like the perforation look and the seat cushions are a bit harder to clean/care for with the perforations. The good definitely out weighs the bad.

I have both a Ford and a Porsche with cooled ventilated seats. The porsche's work great. Do it.

+1 times 2 on both of the above posts. Even with a Stone Grey interior in SF Bay, I would not be without them.

Works great in Texas. There are three settings, I normally have to dial it back from the initial one after just a few minutes since it cools you down pretty quickly. Eliminates the sweat I tend to get on my back in other cars.

The only negative is that it takes up some back seat space behind you since there's a vent on the back of the seat. I didn't get them for this reason because a car seat didn't fit behind me because of this (the seat fit but my kids' feet were crowded out).

Otherwise they're great!

An interesting note about something I learned from the Porsche technology book that came out during the 997.2 kickoff. While I could have sworn that the system actually blows air out the ventilated holes, the write-up about it in the book says that the system actually pulls air in through the holes in the leather and pushes out of the vent in the back of the seat. The airflow is so gentle it is hard to verify this but I don't know why they would bother stating it the other way if it wasn't true.

I absolutely love the feature. Not a must-have in my book, but I definitely made good use of it in July/August this year...

I have ventilated seats in both my Porsche and my Audi. The Porsche pulls or sucks the air from the surface of the seat and exhausts it out the back of the seat. The Audi is just the opposite. The Audi does not cool anywhere near as well as the Porsche. As I test I laid a tissue on the seat cushion and observed the air flow. By pulling the air from in front of the seat, especially cooled air exiting the A/C vents, the air passes by your clothing and cools your skin through evaporation.

Hmm, I test drove a 2009 Targa last weekend and wasn't impressed with the feature. I put it on max and could barely feel anything, compared with my Macan where you get chills on your back after a minute or so. Maybe it was not working properly....

It all depends. I'm 6'2 and have to put my 4 year old behind me. My 2 year old goes behind my wife in the passenger seat. It was already tight behind me for the 4 year old but with the ventilated seats it really crowded her out.

Those kids will get bigger and completely eliminate the problem altogether.
