That's the procedure for my 987.2S PDK, but I've only ever done it in Sport+. I've played with it for autocrosses, but it's hard to tell any difference at all in acceleration time or speed vs launching from idle. But it sure looks & sounds dramatic!

I do believe you must engage Sport + and that's how I have done it. From the manual:
Preconditions:
– Launch Control should only be used when the
engine has reached operating temperature.
– “Sport Plus” mode must be switched on (lightemitting
diode in button is on and “SPORT
PLUS” is displayed on the on-board computer).
1. Press the brake with your left foot.
2. Quickly press down the accelerator fully
(kickdown activated) and hold.
The engine speed will flatten out at around
6500 rpm.
“Launch Control active” is displayed on the
on-board computer.
3. Release the brake within a few seconds.

Make sure you have decent tires, or launch it with PSM On.

Y'all mean PSM "off", right? As in the lamp on the button is lit and "PSM OFF!!!!" warning on the dash? Because the launch goes about 2' and dies if you don't.
Even with really good tires, a proper launch will leave stripes for a good long distance.

I cant figure out the launch. The picture shows which buttons I have in my car. Dead Right is PSM off. 1st button is spoiler, 2nd button is a sport normal switch for suspension.

You don't have sport chrono, and thus can't use launch control. If you did, you'd have a button that says "SPORT" and another "SPORT PLUS" beside the PASM button. You have to be in Sport+ mode to use launch control. (Doesn't work very well unless you have PSM off, too.)

It appears you do not have Sport Chrono (wart looking clock on top of dash is the giveaway)! Without it you can not "perform" a true "launch control". Manual trans cars can do something similar but it is not the same as a PDK car w sport chrono. Sorry!

You can add it for about $1200 I think. You won't get the wart clock on the dash but you get all the operational features which is all that matters. Can't tell if your car is a 6sp or a PDK. If PDK this option is a must have.

Sport Chrono completely changes the character of a PDK car, but is less of an issue with manual transmission car. I've got a friend who has it on his 997.2S and hates it because of what it does to throttle response, so he never turns it on. The only other benefit is that it loosens the engagement window for PSM (both on and "off") and lets you get more sideways.

I recalled seeing someone else had it installed recently and found the link here: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...led-today.html Cost appears to have been $1260 after a discount.
Although you don't get the wart on the dash this way (which isn't really all that important), you'd get the functionality. If your car is a PDK model it is really something to consider as it changes the shifting logic much to the better for sporty driving. You'd also get some a handful of new but relatively minor convenience features to show up (misc options for lighting, locking, wipers, ...)
