Default 997.2 Owners... what are we going to do about a front lip? - Reprise

Rhonda at FVD offers a 10% discount to PCA and forum members. The piece is made in France by an OEM supplier to Porsche. I bought one recently. It snapped into place like you would expect an OEM part to. I bought it pair with a 997.1 GT3 wing / rear deck I found on the Parts Marketplace. The combo provides a meaningful stability improvement through high speed corners (80 mph & up) and greatly reduces rear end slewing while braking from high speeds, e.g. 130 mph to 70 (Sebring T17)and 125 to 45 (Sebring T7). It is a night and day difference.

I ran the Rolex Grand Am course configuration (includes NASCAR turns 3 & 4) at Homestead Miami Speedway today for the first time since adding the wing and FVD lip. It was 6 weeks since I last ran it without the aero bits. The huge difference in stability resulted in lap times consistently 1.75 - 2 seconds less and a higher comfort level (SAFER barriers look like they would hurt!) than 6 weeks ago in similar ambient conditions. I was pretty blown away.

The lip and wing look great as you would expect. I had two different, non - OEM body kits on my 996 and while both looked great, I didn't notice a performance improvement with either. My 997.2 S is a lot more car than the 996 so maybe that is why the difference is so dramatic. I highly recommend these parts to anyone that is looking to significantly increase the aero efficiency of their 997 on the track for much less than the cost of a PCNA aerokit. The great looks are an ancillary benefit! BTW, Mooty has a 997.1 GT3 wing / rear deck for sale on the 997 GT2/GT3 Forum.

I have no affiliation with Mooty or FVD other than being an occasional customer of both.

Gota911 posted two excellent photos of the FVD lip on the initial post of his "997.2 Owners...what are we going to do about a front lip?" thread. There are two - one showing it un-painted as it comes from the factory and the second painted and installed on a gray (?) 997.

Cloud is this the one $990? http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/99...iber-Flex.html

Guys I've done business with Rhonda and FVD before. I can tell you that they are great and truthful because I actually had a issue with a curved exhaust pipe once and Rhonda and FVD got right on it and new part was sent out that day and in my hands a day later..next day shipping! I was shocked! That tells you something.

Cloudspin, thanks for the info.

Mike, yes, that's the FVD lip. I tried to test the waters to see it others were interested in a group buy of this lip. That thread got 364 "views" and 4 posts, with no one stating they were interested. I would rather have had more posts that said "**** no, too expensive" than get no comments at all, so I closed the thread.

Here are a couple of pics of the FVD lip I found on 6Speed.

Tim, i was wondering where your post went...i thought mike's post was it. The fvd lip looks ok to me.. Just really think it too exprnsive. I would consider buying if it were priced similar to the oem 991 front lip sold in the suncoast site. Reasonble for something you would be scraping everynow and then. Oem 991 cost less than $200 why should fvd cost more than 4 times... Makes you wonder

Mike, yes it is.

Tim, I didn't see your post until after the thread was closed. I bought mine in late May. I bought the wing / rear deck a year earlier and my gal wanted if off the bed in the guest bedroom or I would have been sleeping with it - in the bed in the guest bedroom.

My GTS came with GTS AeroKit...my front spoiler looks very similar to the FVD spoiler. My lip/spolier is $300 but I don't think it fits your Carrera S front bumper cover.

Cloud...your car is looking great...nice cheater parts installed! ;-)

Hope everyone has been well and enjoying summer...just got back from our vacation.

Here are more pictures from 6speed of the lip painted and installed:
http://m.6speedonline.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=280980

Actual product pictures and description from FVD:
http://www.fvd.de/us/en/Porsche-0/99...iber-Flex.html

I currently have the FVD lip above and am on the fence whether to install it or just keep the car stock to maintain the natural curves of front..hmmm what to do.
