RMS Failure and then Motor Blown - Pissed!
#62
new motor!
it was at the dealer for 7 weeks, 4 of those weeks involved fidelity reviewing and approving the work order.
i have a 2 year unlimited mile warranty! work was $21,000
new parts
crankcase
connecting rods
pistons
crankshaft
updated larger ims
parts i had them change -
spark plugs
thremostat
alternator cable, mine was melting
i am breaking in the engine, i plan to keep it under 4k for 500 miles... bare in mind the heads were re-used. the engine exhaust note is exactly the same although the engine has somewhat of a whining noise to it now. perhaps it will go away after everything is seated. there have been a couple occasions where i went to 5k as its so hard to baby the car!

i saw the oil on the garage floor and called a tow truck, they told me when the car was delivered to thier dealership it left an oil slick on the ground too.
i must have lost at least 4 quarts total.

Congrats on getting it sorted at minimal cost to you. Unless you are planning to keep the car forever, i really wouldn't be worried about running the engine in; modern engines and oils make this pointless.

i cant think of a better car for the money, i plan on keeping this c2s for a long time. my payment is $500 for a car that can pretty much handle better than every car on the road unless its worth 100k more.
i do want a 997 gt2 but thats a dream right now.

+1. congrats to OP getting it sorted out; the 'whining' is normal for a new/rebuilt engine... my firend's car had the same issue after a new engine.
