Default New owner, opinion needed

Hi, I purchased a 2008 4S coupe late January. The issue I am having is an IMS RMS leak, I have searched and read more threads on this issue than I care too. The car came with a 100% warranty for 60 days, I have taken the car to a Porsche dealership and they confirmed the leak, ( must remove transmission to identify which component is leaking). I called the dealer I purchased the car from and they had me bring the car in so they could rack the car and check it out for themselves. Their opinion is that it is not leaking bad enough to warrant a repair. The shop manager extended the warranty another 60 days (120 days total from purchase). The shop manager said that I could either except the warranty extension or they would purchase the car back. The car is an 8 on a scale of 10, it is a nice driver, one owner with excellent maintenance history and 40,000 miles. I will need to put an additional $1500.00 in the car to bring it up to my standards doing the work myself in addition of the issue stated. I have $49k in the car includes tax and transfer. Would you turn it back in or just fix it yourself? Thanks in advance for your input.

Give it back and buy an '09 from a P dealer or private party.

4S's are not easy to find. If the car has options and a color combo that really appeals to you, wouldn't be bad to keep it. RMS leak isn't a deal breaker.

That said, you have the option to walk and keep looking. A 09 4S will cost you 10k more.

Yep...run...do not walk! Take them up on it and return it. Hopefully there is no bull$hit involved in exercising that option.

Get it fixed at the Porsche dealership and have the selling dealership pay for the repair.

If they don't want to do that. Return it.

If your concerned about it return it before they change their mind. For the money you are spending you shouldn't have any nagging concerns. If you can be patient there are more and more 997.2s coming off-lease every month. (Yeah, yeah, the DFI engine has it's own set of issues but at least it isn't going to tear itself to pieces without any warning.)

Return it or..... if the dealer gets "squirelly", have a lawyer friend or buy a lawyer lunch to make a call to the dealer to inquire what the problem is. 9 out of 10 times, the dealer will hit the ceiling and problem solved.
