Likewise. It was -23F today and there is 3 feet of snow in my yard -- I wouldn't be able to get my car out of my subdivision.

Great pictures. I loved the picture of the side mirror and the hood crest.

Beautiful car and great pics.

Everyone has their reasons for leaving these terrific cars in the garage for half their life....seems like such a waste to me! And it's not only half the 911's life but half of mine too.....no way I'd do that!

There's only one car I want to be driving when it comes time to get behind the wheel!!

Life is short....drive the sh*t out of her. It's just a car...albeit a magical one.

I once got caught in a snow storm in my 968 turbo. This was back in 2003/04 winter. It had to be the scariest thing with UHP tires and rwd only. It was the most disgusting feeling to be caught behind snow trucks and not to be able to do anything about it.

Anything over 25mph and the car would start going sideways. Countless hrs had to be spent to undo the salt under the body. Never again!

Not sure how it would have fared if it had awd. You my friend, deserve a salute!

Grew up in northwestern PA and know about that road grime all too well. Beautiful pictures and you are a gutsy guy for taking her out in those conditions. Call me crazy but I won't take mine out in Atlanta when the temps drop below 40 due to the loss of tire grip. Considering these beauties are built in Germany one would expect that they are winter ready with the proper tires though. Take everyones advice and get a good under carriage cleaning to get all of that salt brine and acid out from under the wheel wells.

After watching the Ultimate Factories show featuring the build on the 911/997 I'm not as worried about the salt as I was. The way the bodies are COMPLETELY dipped and submerged with electrically drawn primer/corrosion protection, then baked and dried before priming again and painting...pretty cool!

That's just the bodies. The salt/chemical may not completely destroy other components and surfaces, but it sure make them look like hell if not rinsed off for some time.

Nice pictures! Drive the car, it's not made to sit!
Unfortunately, I do not have any snow in Florida, but would still drive it no matter!

It's a function of the 997.1 versus the 997.2. The 997.1 engines were the M96/05 (3.6 L non-S), M97/01 (3.8 L "S"), and M97/70 (3.6 L Turbo (excluding the GT3, GT2 variants)) while the 997.2 DFI is a wholly different beast. If you care about why the oil pressures between the 997.1 and 997.2 differ, the link to the following thread may be informative.

I don't think my oil pressure goes that high unless I step on it! BTW, you are a brave man!
