I have a 997.1 s. And like I said I cannot really tell the difference between the two PASM settings. I even had it looked at and was told everything was fine. Does anyone know if a S has different normal and sport settings for PASM that make the ride rougher than a normal 997.

If you're not noticing any difference between the two, then I would say that something is wrong. The difference in both the ride and sensitivity of the accelerator is pretty drastic, in my opinion. I suggest you get a second opinion. Good luck.

Are you sure you're not turning "PSM" on and off?

Here's a thread about this from back in '05:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...d-pse-faq.html

I'll sum it up with the following:

(from left to right, starting with the "shock" button)

1 - dramatically increase suspension firmness
2 - dramatically increase accelerator sensitvity and throttle response
3 - turn off traction control

The Sports PASM option does include the limited slip rear differential, this is for year 2009:

Option Code P17 --- PASM Sports Suspension Package - $2,940
Includes: [475] Porsche Active Suspension Management And [220] Limited Slip Rear Differential Lock

Great pic Mick.

"Sport" button = sport suspension and throttle remapping.
You can push the shock absorber button after Sport to turn off sport suspension but the engine remapping remains on. (regular cushier suspension but sharper throttle response and quicker clutch engagement)

PASM button is independent of the other two. When on which is default, it reads data from the accelerometers, (front right wheel & left rear wheel me thinks) and adjusts the shocks and traction control according cornering forces, steering etc to keep the car flat.

wc11,

When you say "PASM" you really mean to say "PSM", right?

Or did you mean "PCM"? (kidding)

You gotta love those Porsche acronyms, though, eh?

I think he means the button with the shock absorber on it, which is the PASM button.

EDIT....I re-read his post and am not sure which he is referring to now....PSM is the anti slip (or pick your own mfrs. terminology) which basically will "reel you in" or try to if it detects excessive wheel spin or excessive yaw based on steering input (ie...you are about to see the *** end come around).

The other major effect of sport mode is loosening of the PSM parameters. In other words, the car will yaw and slide more before PSM intervenes. Think of it as about halfway between the base Please Save Me settings and PSM off

I can tell the throttle differences but you can shut that off and only change the shock settings. I can't really tell the difference with that. But I didn't know that the sport mode also changes the PSM settings. However do both sport buttons have to be lit or either one or just the throttle sport button to change PSM.

My decoded VIN from Suncoast shows 475, but no 220. Maybe I don't have "Sports" PASM? I do have Sport Chrono Plus, I DO have the shock button and the Sport button? What I don't have is the actual window sticker list of options.
