I sorta laugh when 991 guys say PDK is much better (or totally different). It is better but really only when you drive in auto. I drive in manual mode - 99% so its pretty much the same. Push the lever and it changes up a gear (and fast in sport plue) and vice versa. The 991 is much better in auto and a bit smoother.

I just put a tubi on. Brings it to life a little bit more. Its definitely a step up in volume and I'm on the whole impressed. Maybe a bit much for me but hey it is a sports car. I have another car to be quite in. Have gotten a few thumps up on the road - believe it or not. Sounds a little Italian.
I thought the Tubi was a little loud at first but now I love it! Believe it or not my wife listened to it and said "What are you talking about...it sounds great!"

All I needed!

Love my .2S! Had a 996 then 997.1S and would have been happy with my .1S if it wasnt lost to Sandy. Had PSE on it and it sounded amazing. Loved to rev match down shift - it was fun while it lasted. I then upgraded to a .2S PDK and its a completely different animal. I am always amazed and how quickly and effortlessly the DFI engine revs up... put your foot down and it drop to 3rd or 4th and revs up and you are planted in your seat before you realize whats happening. Its truly rewarding to drive...

Here's my take on it. I've had 2 911's prior to my 997. I liked both cars, but I like my 997 more than those. I've gotten myself into thinking - what more do I need? Its an all-purpose sports car. You can take it to the track, autocross, the school run, ski-trips, long distance cruises. You can wake up on a very cold morning, and it will start right up without any trouble. The power is good enough to overtake pretty much any car on the highways, the feel and the handling is exceptional and ride is very comfortable. I've got decent speakers besides the exhaust note that is. And you always have people looking in awe wherever you go I don't know if I would ever be interested in a 991 (I did drive one, and wasn't impressed much) mostly because the 997 does everything I want - so why even bother to change it.

Yes, love my 997.1C4SCab!
Only had it for 2 years, but its a keeper.
I spent money getting the Dennison (for my iPod) and the Bose system in mine is just fine. Hardly ever have it on though...should've saved my money.

Old Guy, thanks for starting this thread. I'm a new 997 owner, but far from new to Porsche. I have to agree that so far my 997.1 C2S AeroKit car is a fine overall Porsche. I've owned and enjoyed 911 street cars, dedicated 911 track cars, a 92 US Carrera Cup Car, and a 996 GT3 and the 997 gives me a great collection of sensory experiences from all of them.

This 997 does it all for me. Plenty fast, great handling, comfortable for trips, and perfect exhaust note with only the Gundo mod. I absolutely love it and can't imagine a "better" 911 for me. 991 is great I'm sure, but the essence of the 911 as I've experienced it over all these years is best expressed to me by a 6MT 997.

Love my 2012 GTS. I had two 997.1S coupes before this one. Liked them all, but like the GTS better than any car I have owned. Keep trying to get interested in a 991, but so far, it just hasn't happened. Went to look at some yesterday at my Porsche dealer, but just like my GTS way too much.

Love my GTS cab with manual transmission. In some ways, I wish that I had gotten into a 911 before, but then I wouldn't have appreciated it as much as I do now.

Been shopping cars lately. Just getting the bug, after three years of ownership of current ’10 C4S. Usually keep cars for about 3 years. For me, it’s not so much that the 997 is hands down the best Porsche ever, or the best car ever, but, considering the current market, I’m not getting a woody about anything else out there, either. Drove the 991, F-Type, Vette, and Maser GTS. The Maser is by far the most exciting of all these, but I am not ready for a lux GT. Same goes for 991, except it lacks the sexiness of the Maser. F-Type quality and reliability, after seeing in person, is suspicious. And not really an upgrade from my C4S (maybe even a step back!). The Vette, forgettabouit! I won’t even start there. That leaves me with the unpleasantness of keeping the only car I’d rather be driving regardless of price. One day, it will feel and look old, a “has-been”. But not today. Although, if I get crazy enough, I’d seriously consider a 997 GT3. But I would have no choice to buy used, and I’m reluctant to do so. (anyone have a “0” miles GT3 for sale? PM me.)

I'm still happy with my 997.1, love the way it looks and drive. I still get tons of compliments everywhere I go. Just last Friday. I had this green Dodge Charger speeding to catch up to me to give me a thumbs up.

get a GT3, then the 997 GT3 because I told wifey it had better seats so off
to Carlsen and another GT3. I was going to buy a GT3RS pumkin car, but I stopped off at my local dealer and I drove a white C2S with PDK and sport Chrono.
I fell in love. THis car has some MEAT!!! But I have had it for 4 years! Longest I ever had one. Funny thing, I dont feel the need for another or the latest and greatest. I have a car with three different characters in it. Normal and Sport and sport plus. All three are different. And have more speed than I need. I went out to pass some one the other day on the hiway, and it was SO fast I almost nicked the trailer infront of me, the C2s Pulled out there so fast caught me by surprise. Got me to thinking this might be my last 911. That doesnt mean I cant get another.
I just dont want to get ride of thise one!!
Agreed overall, until I drove a Ferrari 458 and then realized that there's so much more room in car refinement and performance!

here is my bump in the road (Besides my 997.2 PDK being almost perfect) is that to move over to a 911 =/991 is they would burn me for another $60000-$75000 just to move up to a C4S. So I just keep
loving my 997.2 and it always gives me a big smile that I just dont even think of 991s!
