my 05 is not a launch but it certainly has some interesting options that nobody usually specs - rear window wiper for example

I suspect my '09 C2S coupe was a launch car. Why?

1 - 1st year of new model DOF engine and facelift
2 - Ruby Red - a new color
3 - Poser options - no sport chrono, but tons of stuff like lighted threshold, macassar wood, natural leather, resulting in an MSRP of just over $110K
4 - Early build date

My car is a good looker and I think it would attract attention at a dealership from the typical grey/black models.

Peace

It's a car with the optional Saturn V propulsion system.

Porsche launch cars are not loaded to the hilt. In fact some options may not be available at time of launch but will be on the first dealer/customer orders. A launch car is typically configured by Porsche AG and put into your allocations. These cars are usually not changeable once configured by the factory.
When a Porsche car is a launch car, it will be designated so on the window sticker as well as the dealer invoice. Additionally, launch cars are part of a dealers demo program and are qualified through Porsche to have a 6 year/100,000 mile warranty from the in service date, rather than the standard 4yr/50k factory warranty.

I tried to upload an invoice but the file was to large, so I have copy and pasted the itemized list of options direct from the invoice. You will see an option code designating this C4S as a Launch vehicle. This would also appear on the window sticker.

Abby, is the longer warranty on the launch models a fact? I just purchased an 09 that has the launch code and it is outside of the 4 year warranty so it would be very useful if the warranty does indeed go to 6 years. I am hoping you are correct. If you have any info on where it mentions the additional warranty on the launch models can you please post? Thanks

If they kept it in demo status for the required 90 days, it is automatically qualified for the extended warranty.

I don't have anything I can provide to you in writing but I assure you this is a program from Porsche for the dealers demo program.

Thanks Abby. I called Porsche and gave them my VIN# and they checked and told me it did not have any additional warranty beyond the standard warranty My car does have the PAG Code - Launch Code 763 and from the carfax the dealer had the vehicle for almost 8 months. Oh well, was hoping that perhaps they missed something. Apparently if it isn't in their system as having additional warranty as a "launch" vehicle then it just gets the standard warranty. In any case, thanks for your help Abby

What year car are we talking about? I'm surprised because the Demo Program is designed for dealers to extend the warranty for any car they keep in demo for 90 consecutive days. I do this with all of our demos and launch cars.

I bought a 2009 C4S launch car from a 3rd party and in my case the warranty worked against me.
How you might ask?
a) As the car was a lease return which then got sold to me by a non-Porsche dealer the whole 6 years / 100,000 miles didn't apply.
b) to make things worse, the warranty period started when the car entered the showroom, not when it was finally sold (9 months later). This cost me 9 months worth of warranty :-(

So better check when buying a launch car.
