Porsche is parsing words here...same level...does not necessarily mean exact same coverage as your original warranty. CPO has always been a tier below the original manufacturer's warranty.
Our Mercedes dealer to us when we bought our E Class that the CPO warranty was just as good as the original. When we bought the car in for warranty service, there were a couple of wear items that the dealer wouldn't cover which our Costco warranty covered.
By the way, the early peeling is a defect and not normal wear and tear.
I agree that paint peeling from plastic trim is not normal wear and tear.
Additionally, my local dealership told me that the CPO warranty coverage matched the original warranty coverage exactly. I did not purchase my car there, so they really don't have any incentive to "lie" to me about the coverage. Regardless, your relationship with your dealer is a key element in getting questionable things taken care of, as they have quite a bit of discretion in how they submit the claim under the warranty program.

OP, I would be very interested in how they respond to your request that they replace peeling interior trim, as this was one of the items on my list that they denied coverage on when I took my 997 to them for my first service after purchase.
My mileage was 29k but the original factory warranty was timed out by a couple months. My particular pieces were the ignition surround and the trim cap on the driver's side seatbelt.
The fact remains that the CPO is in no way as comprehensive as the original factory warranty.
I'm reviving an old thread to find out what other people's experiences have been regarding CPO coverage. My driver side door spear and handle both have peeling paint and I was wondering if I could get them replaced under CPO warranty or if that would be considered "normal wear and tear." Any help would be appreciated!

Had one dealer refuse and another dealer replace the unit with the peeling buttons, while car was under CPO warranty. Guess where I get the car serviced now!
This DIY above might work for the piece around the switches. I have the exact same wear around them. Probably a $8 can, $8 of tape and plastic supplies and a few hours of your time.
Another option might be to ask the service advisor whom the dealer uses for interior touch-ups and get a reference. I'd get a quote from that person and ask the dealer to cover it or a portion of the cost as a goodwill measure.
You could also offer to order the leather covered spears ($600) or the plastic part and see if the dealer would provide all / some the labor to take the door apart and replace.
If you are servicing the car there, maybe they have some interest in keeping a satisified customer?
I also had no luck with my dealer under CPO with these items.

Well the dealer responded with a "no coverage because it's not caused by a defect in the part." But they have an interior company that they use and they may be able to repair it. My service advisor is going to ask.
