I have a similar issue on my 3 series. In researching for options, I found his company for interior trim paint. It should be much more durable than Plasti-dip. http://www.colorbondpaint.com/pages/paint-selector
In your experience, how well did the Color Bond paint stand up to wear? I'm trying to decide between that and Plasti Dip.
TIA!

Agree it's not a defect...I had similar damage to both the door handle and the e-brake handle. I think the previous owner wore a lot of jewelry (rings) on both hands since that looks to be the only way both could have been dinged up the way they were.

Depends on your dealership - they have some latitude on what's covered vs. what's not. On my wife's car, they imported a new steering wheel due to some leather degradation after two years. I was definitely assuming we'd get the bird, since they could definitely have argued "wear and tear."
They did the same with the shift ****, and I'm almost certain it was damaged due to some cleaning products I personally wouldn't have used on leather.
