Just a moment hair, my toupee is hand made in Poland and matches the back seat cover of my 09 C4S, silver. Be proud. Trod

It's still just a Chevy.

Decades of brand building, racing and winning builds recognition .
It doesn't matter what model you may have.
You just have to say "I drive a Porsche" and the name stands on it's own.
It's not about snobbery or anything like that. It's about the brand.

A Corvette owner must say "I drive a Corvette"
If they say I dive a Chevy, I wonder what comes to mind?
And the Porsche owner has to say he drives a Porsche instead of a VW.

I think a 991 is in your future. You seem to fit Porsche's 991 target market very well.

Good for GM!
+1... although you just have to go to your local track to see how many Vette's a week end-up in the wall!

I've always been a vette guy. I've owned five. Who says you have to pick one over the other? I now own a c6 grand sport and a c4 997.1 and I love driving one for a week and then hopping in the other. They both have their strengths and weaknesses and besides how many people really drive their cars to the limit anyway?

If the base C7 is this good, I can't imagine what the Z06 version is going to be like...

I sure hope so! Been working my butt off for years to meet that demographic market segment!!

I will not be offended in the least if you then have that stereotype of me as I drive by: "There goes that affluent a-hole." Just be sure to have a good grip on your toupee so it doesn't come flying off!!

I am a form over function guy and in my area, I see a lot of corvettes, and rarely a 911. It took me a long time to find what makes me happy and I discovered that having a relatively unique vehicle is the solution. I like the cab (Smarttop a must) and the handling of my 2012 C4 Cab.

If I ordered a C7, I am sure I would be pleased for about 6 months to a year, then I would be looking for something unique again. I drive my 911 daily and it gives the "Zoom" factor everytime I look at it.

Or is this like "the Saturn V rocket is a rebadged V2"?

Corvettes are awesome cars and I've driven C3 - C6's but have never owned one. Been a Porsche guy for 14 years ever since my first drive and the unbelievable amount of driver feedback got me addicted. Baskin Robins makes 33 different flavors of ice cram for a reason. I dig and respect all car guys & gals.

Porsche, Lamborghini, Bugatti - owned by VW.

Ferrari owned by Fiat

Corvette owned by GM

Big corporations/brands that are less than some individual marques they own. No big deal. Luxotica owns Oakley etc. no need to get snobby about the fact you'd rather drive a Porsche than a Chevy..

Lots of interesting points here. I agree it is very telling when Porsche owners fit their stereotypes to a "T" by talking down on Corvette owners. In the end, being sports cars aficionados means we have more in common with Corvette owners than not.

Sure you can point to the gold chain-wearing mid-life crisis Corvette owners. There are plenty of them that are Porsche owners and perhaps only fewer in Porsches because they are less affordable.

Performance to dollar value the Vette stomps Porsches without even trying.
