my 2010 C2S cab - 5th day of ownership
Glad to find this thread. Have my 2010 C2S Cab less than one week. Bought from reputable shop/dealer in N Virginia. 36k miles. Manual, so no PDK issues. CarFax and Porsche dealer records show clutch switch replaced at 7k; "lamp assembly" at 12k (car has directional headlights, but not clear if this was for those lamps; a "check on top operation" at 12.5k; horn replaced and "lamp assembly" again - same one?? - at 28k; door sill plate replaced 30k (car has birghtwork sill with a lit "Carrera" script on it, which I notice is only half working now). Minor stuff in all.
btw, I traded my M030 with Bilstein 1997 993 cab for this with regrets about the lost appearance of that triple black cab, but took about one second to bond with the 997 S's extraordinary quality, comfort, and performance. Plus it is Basalt Black metallic, and not so hard on the eyes. Fabulous vehicle.

I'll weigh in with my experience...
I've had my 2009 997.2 for around two years now. I bought mine from a Porsche Dealer (Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia) after a lengthy search. Mine is a "launch" model for Australia and comes with most options including PDK.
It's also got PSE which I had the dealer add at purchase time as part of negotiations.
So in terms of reliability I have had no issues other than when I had the FabSpeed intake on, which after about two weeks generated a CEL. I removed it, replaced the stock airbag and had the dealer clear the error codes.
It's been for two services 60K km and 70K km, both done at the dealer here in Brisbane, the 60K km was $595 AUD and the 70K km only $395 AUD. This is quite a bit cheaper than my wife's Mercedes (2013 C Class Wagon). The only other expense was the OTT software\map update for AUD $395.
I drive the car every day, about 50km round trip to work in mostly city traffic. It carts kids to Scouts and picks up the groceries.
So in terms of reliability the Porsche is pretty reliable. Queensland is a very humid area in Summer, with temps around 30+ degrees, Winter is quite mild with temps only getting to single digits once or twice. The biggest issue is the crappy roads and Australian drivers. ;-)

owned 2006 997.1 C2s for 8 years. Other than routine maintenance and replacing tires due to puncture, have not had a single problem with it.
Friend with 05 997.1 C2 had IMS failure and was left stranded on the side of the road. I believe he paid $7K to have car fixed at that time.

61K plugs, tires, serpentine belt, filters and otherwise flawless reliability. I had a PDK update which was a great improvement, I would urge everyone to stay on top of the software updates for the PDK. C2 997.2

997.2 C2 at 65k miles. Had for 1 year at 61k miles. Other than tire puncture, no real issues. Have done just maintenance items and other ones just to ensure they were done: PDK fluid change, spark plugs, oil & filter change, air filters, cabin air filters. Checked brake fluid and looks fine.
Only complaint is some rattling in the cabin (towards the sunroof) at idle which may lead to replacing engine mounts but might just live with it as I'm not sure it will really solve this problem.

Sorry Schulr, I literally just saw your question, after I bought the car from Englewood Porsche, I noted a significant hesitation on take off from a standing start. It was very noticeable, almost dangerous hesitation when coming off the brake and hitting the gas,. I had what the dealer called a "software update" and at the same time, had the Sport, Sport plus software and buttons installed and it greatly improved the cars hesitation issue even when not in sport or sport plus.
I dont know what version software it is but it made a noticeable difference.

Have had my 2009 since new now with ~26k miles. Only 2 battery changes, 2 sets of tires and routine annual service. The first battery change was a month after delivery. Not sure if the battery was defective or I left a light on. I also failed to lock the car in my garage the first month and was told that also consumed more power vs locking it. Otherwise no issues. Have not needed clutch or brakes yet either.

Robocop305 is absolutely correct. You guys are not driving these cars, why bother buying one. These cars were designed and build for racing, drive them without fear they love to be driven hard....life's too short.

I made that same transition and could not be happier. I loved my M3 but never felt it was an easy car to drive - for me, it sometimes felt like work, even though it was a thrill to drive. The first time I test drove a 2005 C2s, I felt like I was back in my 1972 Datsun 240z - sporty, fun and easy - although much more power than the Z. Six months ago, I got my current 997.2 and am still awed by its balance of comfort as a daily driver/commuter car coupled with its power, speed, incredible handling and just flat out fun on twisty roads. It took me forty years to realize that the car I loved as a teenager but never thought was obtainable is obtainable and is even better than I had hoped. Good luck in your search - seems like its a good time to be in the hunt.
