Has anyone had to make any repairs to a 997.2 after 50K miles?
I know little things on these cars cost an arm an leg to fix. I trying to gauge the reliability of the 2nd generation vehicles after 50K miles.

I get the Emergency transmission light once every blue moon; I turn the car off and on and the light is gone. The transmission works perfect! I have 32,000 miles.

The 997 has been voted #1 in reliability from JD Power & Associates... that being said, I think the reliability after 50k solely depends on the quality of maintenance. I've only heard bad stories come from the early 997.1 (2005 and some 2006). All common issues pertaining to the IMS etc.. have been solidified in the late 997.1 and all of 997.2.
Although, I would NOT purchase a Porsche without some sort of extended bumper to bumper warranty... not saying something will break, but in the case it does, it can be EXPEN$IVE.

My 2010 CS2 with 34K mi: replaced rear spoiler, PCM, battery, and center console, lube door handles, adjusted seats to eliminate squeaks, inserted fuel gas ring)...all under original warranty.

36,000+ on my 09 C2S Cab. It has been in the shop for two items other than maintenance. The first was the muffler clamp bulletin on early cars and the second was the high pressure fuel pump change out covered by Porsche. Outside of that I just drive it and enjoy it with never a problem. Much more reliable than my previous 4 Porsches.

I had the fuel pump replacement and a PDK transmission due to a small leak.

HPFP should have been replaced on early cars. It was basically a recall. I had mine done.

21 K on my 2009 C2S with no issues. ( fuel pump replaced due to the Porsche bulletin as well as the clutch switch ) I enjoy DIYing as much as possible including engine and transaxle oil, engine air and cabin filters as well as spark plugs. I am curious to see how long the water pumps hold up on the .2 cars.

2009 C2S, 27k miles. High pressure fuel pump bulletin. Air conditioning compressor replaced under warranty (it was just a leak, but they replaced the whole unit just to be safe). Other than that, fantastic, knock wood.
