Help programing uncut 997 key
Hello members!
I bought a genuine uncut / unprogrammed key:
997.637.109.00
Dealer wants to charge me $200 to program/cut.
I have a local shop that will program key if I provide the key code for free. Then I could find any company to cut the key for a minimal price.
Question:
How could I obtain my key code?
Thanks!

i doubt you can...legally. think about it, if you could do that - get codes easily by, say, just providing a VIN - you could have any car parked out there for free. My buddy is going through the same issue, dealer wants an arm and a leg. his indy tried to find a way around it but failed. i doubt it can be done but if it can, LEGALLY, please post your findings!

Good point, but I'm willing to show up to the dealer with the car, title, registration, drivers license, and passport just to obtain the code.
Then I could have it programmed for free else where, but the dealer doesn't want to give it without charging.

My local Ace Hardware cut my key for $12. But I need a dealer for the programming. The local dealers are asking ~$150 (one hour labor) to program the keys. So $200 for cutting and program seems on par with what I see (expensive, but all new keys are expensive. Even Honda wanted +$100 for my wife's car). None of my local shops can program the key...
I needed the cut key so I could pick-up my car after hours from the shop. The cut-only key still opens the door, but it will not disable the alarm or start it. It is also nice to have in case I happen to lock the key in the car, I can get in with the cut key.

when i ordered a key, they asked for VIN and it came cut already (irony is it is cut differently than original but works just fine)...
to program the only method was dealer... but they wanted too much money.
went thru this again with my "plastic valet key" i had ordered up.. super cheap to order cut, but to get the programmed was 10x the cost of the key.
