Porsche Parking Problems
#61
I run into this all the time. Sometimes i think that the reason people park next to you is that they need a point of reference and see a car and park alongside it thinking its a safe spot. Hate to say it but after driving all over the world, American drivers just cant think for themselves and are very poorly trained drivers. We are also a very jealous society and it makes owning a car like this difficult at times.

Only if it's a model of equal or greater value!
....I have to say though, the Buick SUV a few posts back is a little close for my tastes... The photo of the Saab though, just shows someone who is properly parked and is most likely watching out for thier baby, just like the Porsche owner...

There are a couple guys that I work with who are fond of their cars (one is my boss, who drives an Infiniti G37 coupe). They (we) usually park well away from the rest of the people in our building.
I have a '78 Ford pickup that I drive occasionally. Whenever I do, I pick one of my co-workers' cars and park within a couple inches of his driver's side door. That's always good for a laugh because it always seems to work out that I do this on a day that that person has to get somewhere in a hurry and has to climb through the passenger's side.
I would NEVER do this to someone that I don't know.

True and true, and it also usually indicates a person who values a vehicle only for its practicality--often the kind of person who thinks nothing of resting her door against your fender while she rummages around in the console for her coupon book or who drops her purse on your hood so that she can dig around in it for her kleenex.

Depends how close!
Seriously depends on 3 things; distance between vehicles, vehicle type and-or how hot of a woman you are.
If too close, no matter what kind of vehicle, there is chance of unwanted contact.
If a really nice vehicle, chances are you care as much as I do and likely are careful.
If you are a hot chick, anything goes.

Being handicapped has an advantage in this case, and I use my tag without hesitation.

Safe parking? I always park as far away from possible danger where ever I go. A couple weeks ago I parked at the far end of the lot, no other cars within 50 yards. Strip mall with a sandwich shop, grocery and CVS pharmacy along with other stores and businesses. Came out of the sandwich store and noticed there were beer cans scattered/rolling all over the parking lot and many people “milling around”. As I was walking to my Porsche several people, including the CVS pharmacy manger, stopped me and asked if “that Porsche” was mine. Three school aged males had entered the CVS and grabbed several cases of beer, ran out without paying and dropped a couple cases, jumped into a waiting late model white Ford F250 pickup truck, tore across the parking lot and clipped the left rear of my Porsche and then drove away. Spring break… beer run… to young to buy beer… daddy’s company owned truck. IDIOTS. Several witnesses managed to get the license plate number and the CVS in store surveillance cameras caught them. Police and my insurance company “are on it”.
My Porsche is in the body shop… replacing and painting the rear deck lid, new left rear tail light cluster and repair rear bumper.
Doesn’t matter how careful you park…

This was just a few weeks ago at Costco. I park at the extreme end of the parking lot, I'm talking zero vehicles. Car still has temp plates on it even! Old horse trailer, with horses in it, decides to park up-hill from my car, no wheel chocks or anything, even my daughter was concerned.
