Rotmilky hit the nail on the head.

If you want straight line acceleration, get a big V8 car or a very expensive exotic. If you want a great handling car that can deliver you a lot of fun and more performance than you'll ever be able to exploit without good driver training, the Porsche is a great choice.

Yeah, if you want to run 1/4s, get something other than a Porsche.

.2C2S stacked against a .1TT?

I do not know first hand, but I guess it stacks up poorly (from a pure speed/acceleration perspective)

TT also has the Mezger!!!

If you want to be as fast as a Z06 (I used to own one) you will need a 997 TT. My C5 Z06 was much faster than my 2002 996 C4S, but the C4S was more fun to drive and had much better fit and finish.

I sold the Z06 and the fastest car I own now is my 2008 M3 (V8 414hp, 6spd).

As previous owner of 3 Corvettes and 2 Porsches, Porsches are much more fun to drive and you can drive them in the rain or when it's under 50 degrees outside. Try doing that with a Vette.

I took a Mezger 997TT for a test drive when I was shopping for one last year. loved the power of the TT, you truly feel the acceleration in the seat, even from 110 km/h up....it was fun. I don't quite get the same experience in my C4S. Didn't go with the TT because I wanted the body of a C4. Maybe a TT cab in the future.

Get whatever makes u happy.

From what your describing even though some may not agree with your needs, I'd go with the TT if price isn't an issue.

It is one fast, amazing car and you won't be disappointed esp if you want even more additional modified HP. The engine can handle some serious HP gains.

The TT's tend to be more fully loaded such as full leather etc, much higher MSRP new so your getting another level up of a car. Your also getting the last generation of TTs with a Mezger engine too!

I would guess they don't stack up at all. I've wanted to drive the TT and hopeful will at some point.

Couple of thoughts. I like the noise of the NA car and the cleaner styling. Low key.

My 997 is best at speed and in turns. Stoplight launches aren't too enjoyable. Lots of wheel hop and potential tickets.

Can only imagine the trouble one could get into with a TT and PDK. Probably jail for me.

Best comment I've heard on the TT was from an Audi salesman. The acceleration is beyond ridiculous and really unfit from public roads. This thought bothers me. And I'm thinking about my car.

Knight: Your 993TT in avatar is one of my all time favourite cars! Just about bought one (black) 3 years ago.

I let a friend, who owns 2 corvettes, a Z28 and one of those big firebirds (he's way into american muscle), drive my GTS. As a former automotive engineer, he appreciates Porsche, but I don't think he'd ever spent any time behind the wheel of one. I took him for a spin around some local twists, he was stunned. Then I pulled over and invited him to drive. Once he realized I was serious, he was in. He took his time getting the feel of the car...I noticed the familiar smile, and the occasional "wow" - took it on the freeway, he was in awe. then he wanted to head back to the twists. Out Cornell to Mulholland, right past the rock store and up the twists to the lookout below Kanan. Those who've been there know. American muscle are fun and fast, but the engineering that goes into a porsche is light years beyond, and you can feel it every time you get inside, either as the passenger or the driver.

The thing about horsepower and torque is that your brain adapts and you want more. Buy the one that engages you. By the way, PDK with Sport Plus and Launch Control engaged is supposed to be a 0 - warp speed type experience. I wouldn't know...yet.

Enjoy the process

Get what you like and not for impressing or beating some face less or unknown person out there. My best friend had a C6 Vette and he ragged constantly on me and my 997. It was cool tho and yes straight line performance okay...but otherwise the Carrera was and has been the best car on the rode I've driven...and that's the point I told him...not too many straight roads out there between A and B in ones drives. Remember that as well!

I find it interesting that the 997.1 tt and 997.2 C2S turned exactly the same time (3:05.8) on Car and Driver's Lightening Lap at VIR. They found the C2S to be better sorted in the corners, and (obviously) the tt having the advantage on the straights.
