Hot damn. Mind sharing where you ordered from? And to clarify, you replaced the passenger and driver side sensors behind the front bumper, correct?

Correct, I replaced both of the sensors found behind the front bumper.

2 x Porsche Acceleration Sensor Part #99761822302
Roughly $181 shipped from SunCoast.

Pictures of bumper removed and new sensors.

After clearing the fault I had to turn the car off and on a couple times before the airbag light would go off. The fault itself was cleared on the first try and has not come back.

outstanding! I'll probably order soon but do a couple other things (radiator grills, maybe third radiator upgrade, get better horns) at the same time since the bumper has to come off.

Spoddle, your beer (or wine or whiskey) credit awaits.

Nice, let me know if you have any questions about removing the bumper. It was pretty straight forward but required a decent amount of force in some areas.

Very good to hear. I apparently need to do the same repair with mine

E: Replaced the sensor today 4.9.2013.
Just need to wait for my Durametric Pro to arrive (upgraded from enthusiast version) to clear the codes and hope for the best

BTW, on a Turbo, the radiators seem to be quite much bigger in size and its harder to get to the sensors due to that. Just a side note.

Replaced the passenger side sensor due to the error code (805A: Passenger's front sensor no communication) and the problem is gone!
Needed to reset the code with Durametric though.

well, the part was $83.85 from ECS. If you have a shop do it, it's all about what they charge to remove and reinstall the bumper. If I had to rush through that job it's probably 2 1/2 hours tops. A good tech is probably a lot faster. $900 seems way too high.

so basically i had the code cleared... light has not come back on yet. but i did have some things bouncing around the interior floor of my car. I'm guessing that mine could be because of my seat. however i had two separate indys now tell me two different things. one guy was so sure that it was the bumper sensor and my other guy told me that it was my seat..... who to believe?!

Glad to hear you solved it. Do you have a picture of the sensor in place? I have to change mine also.

Thedips: have the codes read (make them show you) if it comes back. The seat weight sensor code is what I had first, but was finally able to clear it. Then the pass. side sensor code showed up. Not sure if they were related or not, but they are separate codes.

hagfish2: sorry hadn't been on for a while...glad you caught the pic from Spoddle

I notice some of you have '05 997s and some '06 or later. The seat weight sensor is not in the '05 cars, only '06 or newer, so I'm not sure what happens if you've done a seat swap between model years in one direction or the other. The only way to defeat the passenger airbag in an '05 is with the accessory kit that includes the LATCH assembly for the seat, the "airbag off" light for the center tunnel, and the dash side plate with the key slot to manually turn it off and on. In the '06 and newer cars if there is not enough weight in the passenger seat, the airbag is automatically deactivated and the light comes on.

The part # for the kit is 997.044.800.13 and attached is a PDF with a lot of info, including installation instructions.

Thank you for the great information about your airbag error code. I have a 06 997s with 3 error codes.
805A passenger front sensor no communication
C152 Communication PSM control unit (drive)
C158 Communication gateway control unit (CAN drive)

Just curious, did you have all three errors? Or just the one 805A?

Trying to figure my airbag system failure errors. Thanks for your help and excellent post and pictures!!
