ironic it happens today, after reading this thread:

sitting AT a stoplight.....hear a tapping at my door, the guy behind me got OUT of his car and said "that's the dopest Porsche I've seen in a minute"

LOL........then got back in his car after I nodded my head in thanx

kind of an odd senerio

I was pulling out of a parking lot and noticed a homeless man staring at my car with a big grin on his face. After I waved to him he pointed to the car and gave me a thumbs up. He continued to stare and grin as I drove away. One of those count your blessings moments

Many thumbs up.
But these 2 top the list:
1. I was parked with my 5 year old daughter in the back seat and this gentleman walking by said to my daughter "you are the lucky kid to be riding in a convertible".
2. I was parked waiting for the wife and a young lad (about 8 yr old) asked if he can take a picture, I said of course, that smile of his face meant more to me than my car.

Very odd indeed. Someone approaching the car while you are sitting at a stop light can be a scary experience and in some places they're liable to get shot.

In 1984 when I was 16 years old, I was working my first job at Kemp Mill Records in Burtonsville, MD. With its big glass window in front of the store, we had a nice view of the parking lot while standing at the register. One day a beautiful guards red 911 pulls up and parks curbside. A rather plainly looking woman in her 40s or 50s comes in and buys something (can't remember). I was just so impressed with her car that I said, 'wow that is a really beautiful PORSH'. At which the woman a matter of factly replies 'young man, people who can't afford them call them PORSH, when in fact it's called a PORSCHE'. What a bit*h. Well, I love getting compliments in my 911 even if they butcher the brand name.

I had a guy in a Mustang follow me home once, it is odd and scarey so as soon I as turned into my neighborhood I stopped and rolled down the window, he came by to say: nice car! I said thanks but gave him a dirty look as in you just don't follow people like this. My car was one of the first Audi TT's delivered to the US.

My friend's 11 year old son, while sitting in the passenger seat during a quick ride, "I guess I should stay in school if I ever want to get one of these". My reply to him, "why? I never did!"

I drove to the store to pick up a couple of things, so when I arrived and left the top down. When I returned and got in and noticed a note on the passenger seat that said "Here is my number, I am the girl that was at the stop light". This is not the area where "girls" hang out at the stop light, and I am not that good looking, so I am sure it was a compliment for the car. I never did call.

At a stop light, a guy 20 or so years older than me pulls up next to me in a convertible M3..... He catches my attention and says "dude, when I grow up I want to be you".

Almost every long trip, when I go inside the gas station to use the head or buy a drink, someone is taking a picture of the car when I return. Best was on the maiden voyage from S. FL to OH where folks were hanging out the window on the x-way taking pictures. Made me feel like I was married to a rock star.

Recently I had a guy notice my car and then point to his Mazda3 Speed Wagon and say "Your car is what my car wants to be when it grows up."

I was getting out of my 09C4S in the parking lot a small shopping center not too far from my house when I heard from a sketchy looking 16 year old "That car is sweet. I may have to steal it next time I see it."
