Replaced the 997 with a Vantage: Initial Impressions

Great car and thanks for the post. Almost sold my 09 997.2 C4S for an '09 Vantage V8 about a year ago. Actually had the dealer set to buy back my car and had the purchase order signed on the V8. Sounds of the engine was incredible as you mention and the interior just amazing...other than the electronics/NAV which sucked. Car had iPod integration and Sat radio which was good enough for me. Only pause which sealed the deal and kept me in my 997 was 1) wow factor of the AM - didn't know if I was ready for THAT kind of attention EVERYWHERE I went 2) the AM was sold from East Coast dealer 1 yr after they acquired it from original owner and I couldn't track down the maintenance/service details...and that added to the fact that the nearest AM dealership was 2 hrs away from where I lived back then kept me in the C4S. But it was close! Very close!
In the end I decided to stay with the convenience and familiarity of the P-car (I can pretty much get it serviced anywhere) vs the uniqueness and possible difficulty of having the AM car worked on/serviced (especially if job moved me to someplace out of the way.) But do I want one still...hmm yes!

I seriously looked at the Vantage before I bought my first P-car. Love the 'rolling art' and the exhaust note, the metal grill and other bits, but when it came right down to it the C2S was more fun to drive. Top Gear had an episode that compared the Vantage to the M6 and the C2S that influenced me a bit too. Very different cars. I still admire the Vantage and who knows - maybe some day I'll make the jump. But for now...
