Hi Guys - I installed the Maxspeed-motorsports LED kit a few weeks ago on my 997.1 turbo. Everything was working great until yesterday when my license plate bulbs started acting up. Last night when I started the car I noticed they were off so I locked and unlocked the car. The license plate lights flickered on and then off. Now I can't get them to come on at all.

Questions : What triggers the license plate lights to come on?
Is it a light sensor?
Does the headlight switch need to be in a certain position for them to come on?

Now that they arent working I can't remember how they operate so I cant run tests. I have taken the LED bulbs out and put them back in with no luck.

Have you put the originals back in to see if it's a bulb malfunction? Next I would check fuse. My 2 cents...

I believe the license plate light only comes on when the headlights are turned on.

They only come on with the running lights and with headlights (which obviously only come up with the running lights).

Some aftermarket license plate LEDs are not well engineered. You need to proceed with caution sometimes.

The ones Suncoast sells are great. I've tried different LED bulb replacements in the license plate housing without satisfactory results. Suncoast sells a whole new plug and play housing that seems to have the perfect amount of brightness (not too dim, not too bright) that freshens up the car when the lights are on.

I just ordered a set from ROTtec (no affiliation). Should have in a few days. I'll let you know what I think along with pictures. Anyone had any luck with their bulbs? I ordered the License plate bulbs and the side markers. I also ordered and interior package through ECS Tuning (no affiliation). Not sure how I'm going to like the interior lights, but the package has the engine & trunk bulbs, which will be very nice....
