Annoyances

Fear of being run over by 3 to 4 ton pickup trucks is quite annoying come to think of it. They seem to absolutely hate Porsches. Must be a gas mileage thing. . . .
Fear of radar.
Reverse gear in the manual is way to fast for backing out of driveways.
Radio buttons are ridiculously small.
The 5 second bag of bolts noise on cold start is also another. Otherwise startups are quite nice.
Biggest annoyance is how long I waited to get a 997.

Oh yeah, and the damn peeling climate control buttons on the 997.1s. If someone could figure out how to remanufacture those buttons (or simply refinish them with a durable factory look), that would be awesome. And no disrespect to Stickynomore, but I prefer not to have a sticker/decal on a repainted button.
This may be a very good permanent solution. No offence to stickynomore…but I would like to have the temperature and fan control markings look more integrated…

My local sealership sucks (they are very nice, but but miss things and screw things up)
Lack of useful roof rain gutter - leave windows up until all the water rolls off
Sunroof inner facia rattle over bumps when open
Down shifting into 1st above 10mph is tough
Too damn fast to drive legally
M3's seem to get a boner when they see it; 10 year old pu trucks seem to loose a boner.

The high price/cost of anything simply because it's for Porsche.
Jealous people
No spare
The car makes me paranoid. And I clean it obssesively
Brake dust
No hidden mount for a front plate. When I was searching for my car, I wouldn't consider a car that ever had holes drilled in the front bumper cover. And I live in a state that requires two plates.

I clean the car regularly and drive it very little in the grand scheme of things. I bet I average 1 wash per every 100 - 150 miles of driving (and never in the rain). It's still gets filthy! The wheels especially.
Use a tow hook mount for your plate! They sell some great ones that screw out easily for shows/out of state and no need to pierce bumper. I live in NJ and am not the original owner, so it had a pierced bumper. I removed the plate, purchased bumper plugs and now use the tow hook solution. Perfect.

This guy on his Toyota Tacoma gave a very thorough DIY in changing the color of his climate control facia and dials while preserving the OEM look and most importantly the backlit control symbols.

The high price for parts here in Canada!
Even we our dollar at par or better than the USA, our are overpriced.
Thanks to all the online retailers, I buy most of my parts outside Canada.

No auto headlamps on 997's - there's a "home" feature that shuts them off after a predetermined time but they don't turn on automatically at night - there's no light sensor to determine if its night. Maybe your DRL's are set for all lights on at start. One way to check that is to see if your dashlights illuminate at night without using the headlight switch - they won't.
