story about camaro dealer abuse

Similar thing happened to my 06 GTO when I took it in for a routine/preventative maintenance transmission/diff fluid change.
Tech finished the fluid change and took the car out on his lunch break.
When I went to pick up the car I smelt burnt clutch and noted a lot of fuel had been burned in what proved to be around a 2 mile 'test' drive.
I had a data logger in the car and it recorded max speed of 90+ mph in an area -- city -- the max. speed was 35mph.
Should have taken the data to the police.
Dealer service department, everyone, lied like heck, told me it never happened, it was a dyno run, a legitimate test drive.
Finally I mentioned consumer fraud and that the service paper work had the wrong fluid as being used in the tranny, and the dealer service department refunded the cost of the service.
I had the car checked out at another dealer (where I had bought the car) and it was found to be ok and I had the tranny/diff fluid changed.
Then some months later at the selling dealer there was another incident.
Before I could speak to the GM about it the dealership went out of business, as had the 1st dealer.
Shortly thereafter instead of buying a new Corvette, which I had been thinking about as I had never owned one before (mom says I've been buying all the toys I was denied as a child...) I bought a new Cayman S and at the same time traded in the GTO.
A footnote: As Porsche salesman drove the now Porsche dealer GTO from the front of the dealership to the back to lock it up for the night he 'nailed' the throttle down the driveway.
Then the next day I was approached by the dealer owner -- who also owns a GM dealership -- and mentioned that the GTO really hauls. Apparently he test drove the car too.
That GTO just brought out the bad in people.
I didn't care of course because it was no longer my car.
Sincerely,
Macster.

So, if in the market for a new GM or Kia product, one might do a bit of background research regarding BEST Chevrolet/Kia in Easley, SC.

i think i have a winner - years ago, my parents brought their oldsmobile sedan in for dealer service (i forget for what, but something that req'd a few days to fix) in rockville md. the next night, they were awoken by a late night phone call from a cop in baltimore who had just made a traffic stop, to ask if they gave permission for so-and-so to drive it. obviously not. turns out a few folks were using customer cars to ferry around hookers and escorts.
my mom demanded that the car be extensively detailed, which they of course did, but still couldnt stomach driving it, so they sold it shortly afterwards.

I use a vehicle blackbox (D-TEG Smarty Drive Recorder) in my car. Here's a prior write-up. https://rennlist.com/forums/9830859-post22.html

Back in the mid 70's, I had a 69 firebird that was modified with amoung other things, headers and of course mag wheels. Took it to the local garage for service, and as I was walking down the street, heard a wild burnout, only to see my car, driven by one the garage mechanics, screaming down the road.

Yes but so can most things. Most people don't even notice it behind my rear view mirror nor understand what it is. My SA, for example, noticed that I had hard wired it to the dome light console but thought it was a RADAR related item. I would also have to question why they had to turn it off if they did. Should work well for valet parking if you ever go for that sort of thing. I considered the data loggers which connects to the ODBII port but that's the 1st thing a tech would tap into when servicing our cars... for the most part. I also like the video evidence with GPS tracker of these blackbox cams... a picture is worth a thousand words... just imagine what video evidence would do in a court or with the p-dealer's GM. Most GM's struggle with proof/evidence that their employees are guilty of wrong doing... with video evidence the p-dealer is more likely to take action before things get out of hand... like a posting on youtube.

Burning Brakes
I hate to admit it, but when I was a kid i worked for a dealer that the owner had a Maserati Bora that he kept in the service bays. Every morning I would move it out and cover it. One day, I took it for a horror ride I never abused it or even burnt rubber just a blast down the highway, with the v8 singing. I brought it back and washed and covered it. To this day, I still feel guilty. I didn't tell anyone about this, till now. this happened in 1975.
My first experience at over 100MPH, in an exotic, ect...
Needless to say, I do all my own work. I would never trust a mechanic or a employee with my pride and joy.
