997.1 vs. 997.2 AC Unit/Head Unit Interchangeable?

I'm looking to get into a used 911 but it looks like the only options within my budget are the pre-facelifted pre-2009 models. Now I understand PCM 2.1 can't to upgraded to PCM 3.0 (financially feasible at least) so I'd swap out the OEM 2.1 to an aftermarket.
However, it looks like Suncoast only carries the post-facelifted black center-console trim for aftermarket Navi. I know other places do sell the silver trim though. In addition, almost all aftermarket navigation systems have black trim. I'd like to retain the factory look as much as possible. Does anyone know if the center console, more specifically the AC unit below the Navi screen since the above trim will be swapped out, are inter-changable between the 997.1 and 997.2? In otherwords, can I take out the silver trim in the 997.1, and add in the 997.2 black trim/whole AC unit without any errors? Plug-and-play? Fitment (size) issues?
Cheers, thanks for the help

I'm on the fence trying to do the same... One thing, the AC controller needs to be re-programed by dealer once it is installed via the PIWIS tester. The unit itself will fit in that space, same with the PSM, Spoiler switch panel...

From an older thread, I believe wiring is different.

Joelpirela - Did you find the thread?
Tried searching for it and couldn't find anything. Granted, didn't read through every single post so hoping someone knows where it is off the top of their head.
Started looking at 987c post-2009 because they're within budget. Two different animals, but I just can't stand PCM 2.1. Even the 3.0 I have is starting to feel outdated compared to the headunit in my '12 Merc.

easy solution is order the black 997.2 ac controler and just swap the face plates..
If you want to ship me the 997.1 AC controler I can ship back the unit in black and have it colormatched to the 997.2.
I also sell the PCM upgrade packages with an alpine head unit and dash kit
here is a video on a boxster with the black conversion
Email me for more info

Interesting so the gen 2 air con fascia fits onto the gen 1 unit? Buttons don't seem to be in the same place so can I assume that each button connects to and individual plug?
Or is it a single plug that just happens to map to the right places?
