06 turbo manual (mk1) vs 09 carrera 4s pdk (mk2)
Hi guys
Same milage cars, about 20.000 km, both Very good condition...which would you choose and why.
The purpose of the car is to use on the weekends, about 15.000km year, and to maintain for several years, until it becomes a Classic!
Thanks

I looked at both. Guess which one I picked. Drive both, it's not even close!
BTW neither of these cars will be come a classic. They are mass-produced and are meant to be used as intended. Have fun with whichever one you choose!

I will be the contrarian and say C4S. I think it is more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. I like to use as much of a car's capabilities as I can. Back in the 80's I used to drive the snot out of my Golf GTIs and never got a speeding ticket, well one, but I got out of it... My new-to-me C2 is so much more powerful than my Cayman was, that I can't floor the gas pedal as long as I used to. That is why I never consider the S cars. While turbo acceleration is amazing, there are only so many places to use it. You will be able to floor the gas pedal in the C4S a little longer. If that is your thing...
My first three Porsches had manual transmissions, tiptronic was never an option I would consider. After two months with the PDK transmission, I can say I am very impressed with it. It is not as involving to drive as a stick, but it is an impressive piece of technology. I am amazed at how well it works in day to day driving. And having instantaneous downshifts at a flick of a finger is fun. Not sure it matters to you, but turbo maintenance costs are likely to be higher than the C4S.
Have fun with your decision. As I said in another post, drive as many cars as you can. It is surprising how two cars of the same year and model can feel so different.

Another contrarian vote for the C4S. I cross shopped -07 Turbos and -09 C4S's two years ago. Drove both and bought the C4S. The .2 C4S with PDK is so much faster than the 06 C4S I traded that the additional power of the turbo was somewhat marginalized. The turbo being (and feeling) 2 years older than the facelift C4S didn't help either.

Thanks for the feedback guys...its a dificult choice...but a good one!!!!
Drove both cars, 4s Very fast, pdk is Very fast. 385cv is enough in the "real world"..... The turbo, its faster, but needs more concentration...i found it less relaxing than the 4s.
The noise, also was a down for me in the turbo...
But i really enjoyed the kick of the turbo....so....still no decision!!
On the long term, will the turbo be more expensive to run?

I just went through same decision process and went with a 2010 C4S.
Had a turbo but decided not to do it again for many of the reasons Mark mentioned.
C4S is more fun to drive.

A couple things...
The extra torque of the turbo was unusable for me at my skill level for anything other than drag racing. The C4S is no slouch delivering 0-60 in 4.1 seconds, I believe.
The NA engine sounds better to me and has more linear production of power. I find it easier to modulate the throttle in sporty real world driving.
I got a 10k mile 2010 for what a 30 to 45k mile 2007/8 turbo car would have been. I get a car with some factory warranty that is virtually new. That's worth a lot to me.
Finally, I really like the PDK as my car is a DD. My turbo was a tip and while it was fine, it numbed the driving experience in ways the PDK doesn't for me.

Can't go wrong w either car but they are different. I agree w PMC4s above. And I enjoy pushing a less powerful car harder than trying to modulate the turbo. It's a beast And, just for clarification, I do not believe there are any 2006 Turbos. 997 TT started in '07, cabs in '08. Good luck.

There's a caveat to all these. You might regret not getting the Turbo when one pulls alongside you in your C4S, but it seldom happens the other way around!

I was in the same boat 6 months ago, I ended up with a 2010 C2S with only 3000 miles. I could have gotten a 2007 Turbo with around 15-20K miles for the same price. 3 years Newer was a huge part, I want my car under warranty and I had at the time 3 years 10 months left. The Turbo would have been just the 2 year CPO. Also I have a Shelby Mustang, it has 13K miles, all on the street, and there is no way to use all that power with out putting yourself and others lives in danger. Do not get me wrong I love my Shelby, but for different reasons than the 911.
You really can not go wrong either way.
