Hey Datura, had that drink yet? After the quote I got on my trade today, I need a drink myself!

If you should not care about overpaying why not pay to join rennlist?

This is more than 30% under list for a new 2012 like mine and $12k less than I paid for the Benz. Ouch! This is probably a deal killer...

Why? They are offering you a very fair deal.

If you bought the MB for $53K new, and now it is older, titled, and w/ some miles, they have to be able to sell it for well less than what a customer could go and buy a new left over '12 MB for and on top of that they have to pay a salesman, keep the lights on, and still turn a profit.

I don't know much about the MB but it sounds like they can retail it in the $46K range so $41K is a very fair offer.

Yup!! Several!! Hey, you might want to go private sale and get a more 'retail' price.

I have sold two P cars in the last few months. One was 5K over what the dealer offered in trade and the other was more than that.

But you have to have the patience for the process and the car you are looking at may well be gone.

Do you have the Bluetec or gas in the Merc?

I hate to state the obvious . . . The "Trade" and "Deal" are two separate transactions and one transaction. You bargain for a better "Deal" and the "Trade" will be lower and vice versa. The art is to negotiate both transactions - which I'm not very good at so I don't, as a rule, trade-in. Good luck and I hope everything works out.

THAT CAR IS AWESOME. love the color, great options, unique, etc. Look, stop worrying about selling the thing. Buy what you want. You people sound like a bunch of ninnies who have a date lined up with a super model, but don't want to bang her because you might mess the thing up. Good grief. What're you gonna do save her for the next guy? Geez. Swing away, and swing for the fences here. Get this beautiful car, and don't worry about the next guy. YOu love it, buy it and drive the hell out of it.

I'd hit up carmax if you have one in your area and see if they will give you more. You may also be able to use their offer to up what the dealer is willing to give you.

Took the trade out of the equation, as suggested, and I think we have a deal. If the DME report and RMS inspection look good, this unique car will soon be mine!

Thanks for all your input.

Photos to follow!

Day late and a dollar short. I parked next to a similar green on a BMW M-car Roadster. I prefer brighter M&M colors but that particular type of green is intriguing (in a good way). I think that the nice thing about the Murano Green(?) is that it is unique but doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME". People who pay attention to cars will notice it and it will fly under the radar of those that don't - which is probably a good thing. One thing though, if you can ditch the Lobsters and put something more complimentary on (I like the Classics but, not that the Lobsters are bad, but you could do way better). It would be nice if you could talk the dealer into switching but that may cost you.
