You are doing exactly the right thing. Lots of questions of the experienced ones.

Who gives a sh*t if you overpay......you'll never have a chance to buy that color again....I wouldn't worry about overpaying! These unique colors are worth what they're worth to you. it's hard to put a value on the pleasure you get every day when you look at her.

What's the value on never seeing another 911 in that color on anybody else's car?

I'm not saying not to bargain but life is short!!!

Good Luck!

I think Tom has it right. Make sure the "unique" color is what YOU want. There are some colors that I would wake up the next morning and ask "did I go home with that last night"?

If the color is speaking to you, just buy it and enjoy.

Tommy,
It would be great if someone was in a position to overpay but most won't even if they are able. I reckon most of us do fairly well from a salary perspective and we didn't get where we are making silly financial mistakes. I agree that if the car is perfect and you love the color 2 or 3K is worth the premium. 8-10K maybe not so much. I am not sure what the market value on this particular car is but would, as others have said, draw a line and not move past that. It's a really cool car and it would be cool to know that you will almost certainly never run into another one even at a Pcar meet.
Good Luck, you know you want it, now go test your negotiating skills and see how good you really are. Pretend it's a black one and be willing to walk awa.y.

Hey Tom - 1+. We're at the end of the month and the end of a season which is always a great time to buy a car.

I love how my Targa stands out from all the usual colors. I would never buy a car worrying about resale. Too many variables. Good luck.

Default Update

Looks like we are at at a more reasonable price point for this car. However, the sticking point is my trade. I'm being offered only $41k for my 2012 MB E350 Coupe with only 2000 miles (yes, this is the result of the brainfart that led to my current 911-less state). This is more than 30% under list for a new 2012 like mine and $12k less than I paid for the Benz. Ouch! This is probably a deal killer...

Why don't you try asking a MB dealer (yours) what they'd give you for the car??

TommyV44: Good suggestion. I will ask them in the morning. Thanks. Last month I was offered $45k for the car, but I did not act. Now the value has mysteriously disappeared...
