On Saturday I went on a group drive with the Porsche Club and my buddy had the FD Mufflers on his car Carrera. It sounded amazing so I went home to research it and it's a freak'n Gundo Hack.

Does anyone else have as much frustration as I do trying to find the needle in the hay stack using the advanced search function?

All I'm trying to find is the "Gundo Hack" instructions DIY.

So I looked into the FD Motorsports and that's a glorified Gundo...Right. I'm inclined to save the $500 pull the muflers off and have my buddy tig in some 2" pipe. I might even polish those busters up afterwards and make them look pretty and shinny.

I know there are step by step instructions on here. Anybody have the link?

2.25" pipe, which is the closest you'll find in the USA to the 60mm pipe they are actually.

PHX, I believe the pipes are 63.5mm from what I've read.

Pay FD Motorsports for a quality muffler product. Their fister muffler is what you hope to get (but may not) from a muffler shop. Not on commission!!!

The difference is likely less than $200. You are driving a Porsche...right?

I measured the Tubi pipes with calipers (O.D) Saturday, and SAE was 2.37" or something like that. Switched the calipers to metric and bingo - 60mm on the nose. I didn't measure the OEM's but my guess is they are the same, since the OEM clamps are used on the Tubi system. 2009-997.2

The FVD site had it as 63.5 but I would take your physical readings over their web posted... thanks for measuring and sharing.

ASTM A240 Tubing is 63.50 mm or 2.5" and if my memory serves me correctly it should have an .063" wall thickness.

USMC....your exhaust is sitting in the garage so take a set of calipers and measure the inside diameter and we'll have the answer.

let's do the math. If I take them off and have my buddy do the TIG Welding which will be very nice and by throw him a C note. The Fister is $600 right? Perhaps its $265 a set. Am I reading the web site incorrectly?

My buddy paid somebody to do it for $1000.

Actually Spokane we packed the OEM exhaust system up and put it in storage last week or so... not a trivial extraction for me brother. But if you have caliper then just measure the pipes on the back of your car. BTW, my FVD pipes between the exhaust and cats measure 2.75" = 69.85mm. As a reference the FVD pipes were much larger in comparison when I did the install last week or so but safest if you get an accurate read off your own pipes.
