Pay a detailed to do paint correction and put a nice carnauba on it. Then use a wipe on walk away product like Ultimate Paint Guard Plus after you wash and dry. If you haven't tried the wow a products you'll love em'.

Any sealant on top of wax is simply for durability. That something I actually don't want.
That's the beauty of a pure wax. It just evaporates.

Pay someone to do what I love to do? Not a chance.
Paint only needs correction if it is incorrect.

Great Scott!!!! Are you serious? Let me read some of this and get back to you. The Carnuba is working good and what I noticed most was that it didn't leave a white chalk in the areas where I have the clear bra.

Funny story... I only started reading and looking after asking the guy from detailers domain for a recommendation. That's where I purchased the 1z and I asked if he could recommend something that I might like better. He recommended this:
http://www.detailersdomain.com/Swiss...Wax_p_103.html

After laughing at the price for a while I realized that I was on my own to make a decision. That's when I read that autopia article.

I use the Maguiars Ultamate Wash. The stuff smell weird but I like the results and I hope it doesn't strip the wax.

Even if it doesn't strip, real wax simply cannot last more than 30 to 60 days.
If you need longevity add a base of polymer or use a combo polymer/wax product.

Flex is the shiz. We are celebrating our 25th anniversery on August 1st so I'm trying to figure out what I want and I thing the Flex is at the top of the list.

My cars finish is still amazing with very little scratches. Yesterday my car was setting next to a Boxer Ruby Red and the difference in Paint Finish was embarrassing for the guy that owned the Boxer my friend said. Too much time in the sun and not enough paint care I would suspect. You all have peaked my interest in some of these high end products.

Raggtop products on the top.
For polishes, I have a Flex, and use Adam's polishing system (polishes and pads)
With a couple coats of Zaino, I wash and detail spray every couple weeks, 2 bucket system, with a grit guard.
I dont use waxes, as the melting points are 160 or so, and those flash off here in PHX.
If you can't tell, I'm in to it.....

LOL Skibum you sound just like me. Sometimes I find it relaxing to just go out and wash and wax my cars or boat.

As for zaino, I'm not a big fan of it. I know many swear by it but for me it left a artificial look and from my experience It doesnt protect at all with etching from bird bombs and bugs. I'm not saying its a bad product it just not the look that I was after. I'm not slamming the Zaino guys but it just wasnt what I was looking for.

I've used the Zymol and the Mothers and wasn't very impressed with it.

I'll have to check out this Souveran.

I did like Zaino but only on Silver and other lighter colors where depth didn't really matter. Zaino is super slick.

I have yet to try Swissvax, Adams and a few others.

So tell me this. Is it OK to polish every few months? Seems like the clearcoat can only handle so much polishing. Also, would you clay before any of these process'?

What machine are you using? The Flex seems to be the Polisher that Jesus would use. Just say'n.

Remember no wax will be good with bad prep work. Prep your paint correctly and your wax will make the car look like a million dollars!

I feel every car should be clayed once a year and polished once or twice a year.

My 911 is definately a trophy wife (besides the one I've been married to for 25 years) but I didn't realize I needed to wax it more that twice a year. I was worried that the wax would build up over time. Actually, I put two coats on each time.

Those that appreciate the difference between a fresh wax job and one a week old.

If you maintain your wax, I don't feel polishing is needed that regularly. (Spokane)
As you said it is an ablative process.

I usually polish and clay once a year.

Ahhh....My dad was a detailer for a Ford dealership and some old guy taught him spit shine. Some of the old shoe shine guys still spit shine. He told me about it but I've never done it. I used to help him wax the 914 when I was little and he spit on the car while polishing off the wax. He said it aged the wax. I don't know....seemed kind of strange but I do it sometimes myself if an area doesn't seem to be polishing well.

Look up spit shine technique in Autopia.
