I'm not the best guy to ask but some I've done lately have been:

-Short Shifter
-HRE Wheels
-Tubi Exhaust

I know many others have done many more. I'm surprised on how much difference even these things make to my enjoyment of the car.

Good Luck!

Tom

Euro clearlight replacing the orange and an exhaust - Tubi or PSE. Wouldn't touch ANYTHING else on a Porsche 997.

it depends on your budget and priorities... performance vs looks... some options:

HRE wheels
LED's tail lights and front fogs
painted calipers
GT3 rear spoiler and front bumper
black matte vinyl rock guards and or hood
painted rear console
carbon fiber interior bits
aluminum floor mats
safe guard fire extinguisher
upgraded audio system
tubi exhaust
FD motorsport exhaust
HR drop springs
dual filter carbon intake by fabspeed
IDP plenum
softronic tune

those are some that I have done and some pending to do... but that will get you started!

Default Some ideas based on my Mods for 997.1 S

For performance mods I went with an IPD Plenum, FVD exhaust system, and B&M SSK. For the Texas heat the Porsche 3rd radiator and grills (to protect all three radiators) were installed . For LEO... the Escort Redline RADAR detector was hardwired. For security LoJack.

Best mod is to mod the driver. I highly suggest a driving school and/or some DE track event and auto cross. Learn to actually use the cars potential...in stock form it will surprise you how fast it really is.

+1 this is truly the best advise for the un-afflicted . But I suffer from the personal need to mod/tinker/improve/DIY... much like gambling, drugs, alcohol, and womanizing for others. I fully expect to end up on an A&E Intervention/reality TV show someday... come home from a business trip to find all my family members and friends waiting/holding hands in a vigil in the middle of my family room. With cameras rolling my wife starts with "honey, we all love you but you have a problem." They force me to admit my addiction... there will be lots of tears, promises, etc... then they send me off to take a 6 wks sabbatical at a HPDE school to cure me... ok, maybe it won't end that way but it is my money after all so I get to spend it the way I want to... like buying a 911 in the 1st place.

That is absolutely the truth. I found it can take a couple of years of DE driving, classroom instruction, professional coaching, and track data analysis before you can truly reach the limits of your car. Sure you can add a new suspension and horsepower and get faster track times, but you will still need to learn those driving skills and by the time you do, you may be interested in a dedicated track car with a cage.

I have a 2011 Carrera S, and I have added the following:
  1. Toyo R888
  2. GiroDisc rotors
  3. Pagid RS29 pads swapped in for track days only
  4. RSS lower control arms all four corners
  5. RSS control links front and back
  6. RSS rear toe links
  7. second set of 19" wheels used for street tires

I love the RSS steel monoball lower control arms. I do not notice any additional road noise but they allow greater camber adjustment than the stock arms and a more solid feel on the track. The GiroDisc rotors are a good value for the money and after 22 track days the fronts are approaching minimum thickness but have not cracked or grooved out and braking is silky smooth always. I still have my stock rotors that I will put back on the car some day when I decide to stop tracking this car (probably this year).

There are many mods that I would do if I were going to continue tracking this car. The first would be racing seats, harnesses, roll bar. Then a set of 18" wheels so that I could run the right size Hoosier R6 tires. The last thing I would do is coilovers.

At a certain point, when you price it out, it might be smarter to consider selling your street car for a dedicated track car. A track prepped used GT3 RS or a cup car would be my preferred choice.

IMO, not much versus OEM air box.

Upside: it gives a louder intake sound.
Downside: minimal, if any, performance gains. It pulls hot air from the engine compartment into the engine.

May I also suggest:

X51 power kit
Fabspeed X pipe
Aero kit
Race pedal kit
"Porsche" windshield banner from Suncoast (looks cool).

+ 1 on the DE too. Adds to the enjoyment for sure.
