It was a dream I thought to be able to take my grandsons in the back of my Targa. I bought two of these which seem to fit perfectly and my son has allowed me to follow that dream and take them out. They love it and I do too.

Bubble Gum seat works perfectly in 997/any 911
$30. I bought for my car and works great for my grandsons (age 7 and 8). Not right for 3 year olds.

Great for middle rear seat kid seating also in Audis, Subarus, Acura etc with raised "hump."

I have a booster seat (no back - just the seat) for my granddaughter in the backseat of my Acura MDX. It works great there, but I didn't think it would fit in my 977.
Now, I'm going to try it out in my 997! This could be really great!

Harmony from Walmart is another good option and comes in a full seat or just the base. It's really easy to completely remove the leather parts from the rear seats to keep them nice if only the little ones will be back there.

Depends on the height of your children.
My 7 year old was tall and a booster seat puts his head above the back of the seat (with no head rest) so that is ***MORE*** dangerous. So I didnt use one.
Forinstance, the children above, their heads would be above the height of the seat ... without a head rest in the booster seat ... the booster seat would make them at more risk of severe neck injury with an accident.

Harmony youth booster seat
After reading this and other threads about finding a booster seat to fit in the backseat of a 1997, I came up with one that works for me. It's called Harmony youth booster seat, no back, and with a little modification.
In order for the seat to fit in beside the seat belt receiver, I had to remove the left arm rest, such as it is. It was not very hard: I took off the fabric cover and cut the arm off on my bandsaw. A hacksaw would do the same job a little slower. I then tucked the cover into the hole where the armrest was and it drops right in. Perfect fit.
