I've been watching and learning from this forum for a long time and that has resulted in my purchase this month of a 2009 997 Carrera 4 Coupe, metallic slate grey, 11,000km. It smells and looks like a brand new car. I step into my garage multiple times per day and I can't believe it's mine. But it is! Thanks to everyone for your input, it's been valuable to me

that's interesting, Tim. On the plate attached to the door frame it reads 'metallic slate grey'. It was first registered in (April) 2009 in New Zealand and built in Sept. 2008 so I guess that makes it a 2008, not a 2009. You're very astute to notice that and thanks. Also I didn't add that it's a 997.1 It would be one of the last before the 997.2 I should think, Y/N? Rob

Rob - ha! We're all like that. Welcome to the club. You are going to have fun. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As for the 997.1 vs 997.2 , pics please. The easiest way to tell the difference, especially in a C4 997.2 is the reflective strip that runs across the rear, joining the left and right taillights. Also, the taillights will be missing a notch on the inside. Pics?

Well some progress with a pic. My first question on this forum is how to remove the Carrera 4 enblym. I want to replace it with a simple '911' as per the 911 badge that appears on the 991. I've read about dental floss and a hairdryer but it seems NZ floss isn't strong enough. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Glide (teflon based floss branded by Crest) isn't available in NZ? I'd break my teeth before breaking the floss - but maybe everything in NZ is tougher than the rest of the world (except Floss perhaps). In addition to the hair dryer, you could also apply/moisten the floss with an aliphatic hydrocarbon (goo-gone or even WD-40) and gently work it between the badge and adhesive. This will beak down the adhesive, albeit rather slowly.

Congrats! And about the fact that you still can't believe it's yours? I've had mine for nearly two years and I still have to pinch myself in believing it's indeed mine. So don't, even for a minute, think the feeling goes away anytime soon. Sorry, but you bought youself into the sickness we share. Welcome!

Congrats! You're gonna love it!!!
Maybe Slate Gray is a special color for NZ in 2008, in NA and Europe I believe it was discontinued in favor of Meteor Gray post 2006.
