Great point, nothing wrong with taking advantage of the time you have taking a few test drives.

Malexgcab, Paul Miller quoted me $480. When I brought my car in for a ppi, they told me that I needed an oil change and it was $480 plus tax. Im done with PM, never again. When they did my ppi, they told me on the phone that everything was checked and all is well. I insisted that they send me the results in the mail. When I received the results, they never checked the fluids, nor the battery. When I asked them why this was not done, they told me that it was "probably done" but the technician "probably" just did not note the results.

I may be stating the obvious but many dealerships will discount their prices to get your business and not lose it to the local Porsche Indy.
My local dealership was willing to do it for $200 even though their rack rate was $320.
That was two years ago. I have DIY since then for about $60.

Hey everyone, reviving an old post here. Check out allautoneeds dotcom. The site has plenty of coupons for Porsche service. It's just getting started. After finding out firsthand how volatile dealer pricing for service could be I thought everyone can use some money saving coupons for dealer service. If anyone has any coupons that they want to share PM me and I'll put it up on the site..

I think the moral of the story is that living in New York is a self-inflicted wound.
My oil change was, I believe $150? I forget, as I had a new spin-on filter fitted at the same time.
Of course, I'm in the Southwest. Which I recommend.

Real Estate is a big part of the cost...rent...property taxes...and salaries...and phone bills...and utilities...and insurance...and yes...profit so they can grow the business. An NYC Porsche dealership is not a monastery with a vow of poverty for the monks wrenching your car.

I still prefer the 'move the h*ll out of that cesspool' option, but: Maybe that's just me.

lol @ paying $520+ for an oil change on a 997.
After owning 20+ cars over the years, the 997 is by far one of the easiest cars to DIY oil change.

No, that's not bad at all for a 997. Where did you go?
It's about a $100 for parts filter and oil from the dealer. Then it does take a while for the oil to drain out so you are occupying a lift. Add the tire check, fluids like windshield etc...$125 seems low for an hour of labor at a dealer.
Or did you go to an indy?
I did my last oil change myself for maybe $60 in parts. And the last time I had a PCA coupon to Loeber Porsche for $135!!! The guy couldn't believe it. It was 5 degrees outside so I had no inclination to change the oil myself in my garage even though it's heated.

After getting the correct Flute filler wrench it was the easiest DYI oil change of all time. The car didn't even need to be jacked up. It's one thing to pay for the convenience but to get clubbed over the head for 5 times the amount in some cases is just crazy lol
