The '09's will usually be a fair bit lower in price. Cars were a very hard sell in '09. I imagine your car originally sold for $75-85k. That was the best year in Porsche's history for buyers looking for discounts.

Buyers looking to purchase an '09 used now should expect a deep discount from MSRP. IMO of coarse. At least I would..

I sorta disagree. 09's were a great deal back in 2009, because the economy was in the toilet. Not because of the car itself. Thats why they were a hard sell.

Of course they should be cheaper than a 2010 as a 10 is newer. But they are literally identical cars otherwise, so you will not see a huge difference in price between them. All other things being equal. I would expect to see a normal depreciation curve for 997.2s from 2009 to 2011. There shouldnt be some unusual discount or drop off for a 2009. In other words, you'll pay the most for an 11 and it will go down as you would expect to an 09, due to year and time remaining on warranty.

True enough 2009 was a tough economic year.
I agree the 09 and 10 are similar, but Tiptronic and PDK are big differences.
With GT3s the differences are less notable.
The 991 version of GT3 is more likely to aggect the 997.2 version

Not sure I follow. You're saying some -09's came with tip? Could have sworn -08 was the last year for tip....at least for the 997.

Sorry, I may not have been fully clear. We're both basically saying the same thing. Any and all cars were a hard sell in '09 because the economy was flirting with total melt down. Same reason "cash for clunckers" was implemented. NO ONE could sell a car to save their life. That's why I bought my '06 in '09. The price was right. But at the same time it was kind of scary making a large purchase like that not knowing if the economy was going to fall into an abyss.

Nothing wrong with the '09s. Great cars. I should have bought one.

And yes, the tip was gone by '09. PDK was all the rage!
