Are 997.2 values really this bad?

I really don't under stand. What's the question? Bad? As in good? Not good? High? Low? Explain?
The trade in value for this car should be excellent. It's practically a new car. The 997.2 used cars are selling like hot cakes at the dealers. They would love to get it for a trade in. I believe trade in value is way up there for this car. If someone doesn't buy it shortly off their lot someone from Germany or other European country will. They can't get enough of these from the US.
If you're thinking you should be able to steal this car from the seller, forget it.
I'd say that car is in the $90k neighborhood.

There are colors that take a hugh hit in resale and red is one of them. These cars have a limited audience and thus a lower price..

When reading this I knew I recognized the car... Seen it on Ebay. I'm in the market for an C2S 997.2 and looked at your posting. Guards Red is not on my shopping list, but if I could offer some friendly advise from something that has looked at a ton of cars online you should beef up the photos. You have 4 tiny pics and a car in this price range should have 20+ high quality pics to really show off the car.
Best of luck... I agree with the other posters that the values of the C2S 997s are holding up well much to my dismay

Trades/sales are miserable if you're the seller. I got rid of my '09 C4S last summer - perfect condition, 10K miles or so - $70K was the highest offer. I shopped it to several Porsche dealers, but none would beat Carmax's (?!?!?!?!???) no-haggle offer. Shocking, but I ended up selling it to Carmax. I figured it would be an easy CPO turnaround... Who can tell?

Sad, but this is the depreciation cycle you can expect with acceleration as the 991 becomes the du jour ride. This happened to my 2004 40th anniversary that dropped when the 997 came out in 2005. It precipitously declined thereafter from $60s to $30s. You can jump off whenever at whatever you you can tolerate or ride it for 100,000 miles when its worth nothing. These are just commodity cars now. The last of the 993 aircooled, the long hoods and the 356s are the only ones that appreciate now. Everything else declines including turbos. That's just life aint it?

While your price is fair, why would you tout a potential $5,500 profit by posting what you bought the car at auction for?

I've been looking for a 911 for about 6 months now. One thing I notice is that the 911 prices are all over the place. The year is almost irrelevant. You can find a 2006 for $37K all the way up to $70K, thats a huge spread for basically the same car. Its a huge spread like that for every year I look at. I mean mileage and options factor in but $70K for an 06 seems just a bit crazy to me.
Tim, I just think you give away too much info and negotiation leverage when you tell someone how much you payed for the car. They are going to want to buy it at a bit less than what you paid given that you used it a bit. $75K for a 2010 seems quite fair when I see someone selling a 2006 for $70K.
At the end of the day any car is only worth what a buyer will pay for it.

As Tim's realistic auction pricing is informative, its not an avenue for the majority

No one is jumping on it at $75,500, which as you pointed out is probably one of the best deal's on a 2010 C2S in the country....
I'm not trying to gouge anybody at $75,500, especially when my hard costs are more like $73k. What I was simply pointing out is that 2010 C2S's are selling all day long for the high $60k's.
If you guys want to continue to have dreams of grandeur of what your car is worth don't let me stop you. I will gladly quit sharing market information on the board.

With your car a good deal @ 75.5 makes the OP's car a good deal in the high $80s. Your car has 10 x's the miles on it. That is a big factor in these car's resale value. Also, IMO, not as desirable of a color combo, another big factor. It is also one model year older.
In short, you haven't given us any data that tells us that the OP's car isn't worth close to $90k.
IMHO of course. And someone will be lucky to buy your car!

These things are only worth what you can actually get for them, so let me add two real world examples to the discussion:
I paid around $70k last month for a 2009 S with 25k miles. It is loaded up with an original MSRP of over $105k and still under factory warranty for another year. Was given $55k on the trade of my 2008S with 40k miles, minimal options, a sticker price under $92k, and factory warranty through June. They are listing it at $58k, not sold after a month.
