Thanks for all the feedback. I do have a 997.1, so do not have the center muffler to dink with. Had the PSE on my 996, which was set in the "ON" position, so you had to hit the switch to turn it off - the way it should be!!! If I go the PSE route again, I won't have the on/off switch installed - I'll just have it on all the time - never turned the other one off, so not sure why I'd turn this one off.
What's the going rate for the 997.1 PSE without the switch? $3k??

Personally I favor the PSE for its sound, and added it to my prior 996 and my 997S. The Carnewal on/off setup also makes adding it basically a DIY job (although I'm too lazy and had my dealer do itt). One other big advantage to PSE is that its OEM and covered by warranty (and avoids any potential warranty disclaimers by using an aftermarket product). I had one of my PSE cans replaced under warranty.

Yes, that's the safer exhaust option. The PSE cost has gone up this year FOR SOME REASON! You could get it under $2K last year, but now I haven't seen it below $3K . Also, the installation cost is damn high, specially if you wanna wire it. I got 8-10 hr install estimate.

I suppose it depends on the individual and what floats your boat, but I ordered PSE on my 997.2 S from the factory and love it; wouldn't change a thing about it.

Why not the gundo hack for $300 vs around $4000 for PSE installed?? Same sound, no need for an on/off switch which is ridiculous to begin with (if you want less sound then go lighter on the throttle but whats the point?). Keep your old exhaust and if you dont like it for whatever reason then put the old exhaust back on. Save yourself a ton of dough....

Vern1 I really agree...Gundo hack sound like PSE...way cheaper.
My GTS came stock with PSE....way too quiet in stock form so I did the Sharkwerks center cross over section...sound is a lot better. I was always turning PSE on so I just unlpuged PSE so that it is always on.
PSE is a great sounding street exhaust...but...you really need to have a Sharkwerks center section with PSE.
For the track PSE is very very quiet...with helmet on windows down about 5000rpm's 100+mph you can even hear the engine. I need a louder exhaust for the track...a more open exhaust for the higher rpms.

Also, from another thread I remember someone said that in post 2009 DFI engines they did change something in the intake that made the engine more mute.. wanna look that up, if you got a 2010 car you can reverse to 2009 part to make it sound better.

But if you have to leave early in the morning and don't want to be a jerk to your neighbors, it makes sense to have it off when you start up. Helps avoiding the whole **** where you eat problem.

Can't compare 997.1 PSE vs 997.2, when I drove a .2 with PSE at Nurburgring, I was SHOCKED how quiet it was! They did address that in 991.

I hadn't heard that before your post. A big reason that the 997.2 exhaust, stock or PSE, is quieter than the comperable (stock or PSE) 997.1 exhaust is the addition of the center, or 3rd, muffler. Three mufflers.... Seriously???
In this case, a Ménage à trois is not a good thing.
