PSE or other sport exhaust?
#31
Yep, it does come in handy with the neighbors. I have the PSE on my GTS and it sounds awesome, in fact had a lot of comments on the great sound at a recent AutoX. Can't compare it to a 997.1, but I'm happy with it and would order it again.

Alex,
I hadn't heard that before your post. A big reason that the 997.2 exhaust, stock or PSE, is quieter than the comperable (stock or PSE) 997.1 exhaust is the addition of the center, or 3rd, muffler. Three mufflers.... Seriously???
In this case, a Ménage à trois is not a good thing.

Consensus is that PSE on 997.1 is very enjoyable. Then noise standards tightened in Europe and PSE on .2's got quiet. Love my PSE but it's not enough so I'll be adding Sharkwerks bypass. Can't explain why I haven't done it yet....

Was traveling, so just back to this thread..........pardon my ignorance, but after 6 years of P-car ownership, what is the "gundo hack" option? What am I removing, altering, and what does it do to backpressure, hp, torque, etc.?

It is adding a pipe to connect the inlet and outlet pipes on each muffler. Any good muffler shop can do it for $200 to $300. It may lower back pressure a little but has little impact on HP/torque. You can search on "Gundo" or "Gundo Hack" and find a few pics.

Hey Guys, our Maxflo Sport Mufflers sound nice and sporty, but if you are looking for the optional sound change, then the PSE Exhaust or our Valvetronic Mufflers will do the job. I have a bunch of customers who did our X Pipe Sport Cats with their PSE Muffler and they rave about it. So you have that option also, which makes the bigger power increase and improves the sound of the PSE. Let me know if you have any questions and PM me for pricing of our Sport Cats or the Valvetronic Maxflo Mufflers.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have not heard the Gundo mod in person. However, I did a similar mod to my '04 996 stock mufflers. The sound was about 90% to 95% of PSE. A few guys I knew in Dallas really liked the sound. In fact, when I was getting ready to turn the car back to the leasing company, I swapped mufflers with another guy. He got the modded mufflers and I got his stock mufflers.
It was that sound that made be determined to get PSE on my nest Porsche. I thought about doing the Gundo mod on my stock 2010 mufflers, bet decided I wasted the "real thing" because this is probably the last Porsche I will own and decided that it would be worth the $$$ to me. If you want better sound at a low cost and want to keep the Porsche sound, then do the Gundo mod. It should be $200 to $300. I doubt that you will regret it.

I wish Fabspeed would build something like this at a great price....Side Muffler Delete X Pipe with small in line mufflers! lots of weight savings, free flowing and probably makes more power in the upper rpm's. However PRICE is the key...

You wont regret the gundo. I have it on my 997 cab and its 1/10 the cost for all the same sound of a PSE
If you ever want to go back to std muffs (if u sell the car) you will not have any trouble finding someone to swap
