Why dont you buy two cars? For 175K you could buy a uesd 997 Turbo and a Aston Martin Vantage or Maserati Grand Turismo S, or get a 911S and a Ferrari 360

I like the vintage Porsche idea. A 1998 Turbo S is a classic collectible that seems to keep increasing in value, and the good ones seem to be within your target price range.

if you are thinking vintage Porsche check out the Road Scholars
you might be surprised at what they can find and what you can and cannot get for that type of money

I have met 2 of the team and seen several of their cars in person...nothing beats vintage IMO...real class

It's just a little out of the budget but what about a Singer 911? I have no idea how they will do in terms of value retention, but it is a wonderful blend of the old and the new and will be a real talking point and rarity.

Doubtful at MSRP but GT3 4.0 gets my vote if any are around? A 1998 Turbo S is probably the most solid in terms of retaining value.
