I don't wave first, but always return a wave. Just too much waving over all. On my bike I have to wave (motorcycle waving is out of control) same with boating.
The wave should be stopped in favour of a high five or a fist pump, now that's an acknowledgement

Not a lot of Porsche guys in the downtown Toronto area wave (mostly ******* lol) but I know when I drive out around the outside of the city it happens a lot...
