C4S vs C2S

I don't see any disadvantage to either car other than that the C4S is going to cost you more up front and perhaps be a little more complex and therefore potentially more costly to repair down the road. As far as driving dynamics there are some slight differences but both will be fun to drive. C2 will be a bit more economical mpg wise but not enough to sway the decision. The question is, unless you drive to the mountains in the winter, do you need to spend extra for AWD capability in sunny SoCal?

Having said that, and owning a C4S, I'd say C2S would be a better fit for your climate/region. It's lighter, less expensive and less complex.

Many have commented about how much heavier the 4 is to the driver. Carrying much more components, it therefore will react accordingly. For So Cal it's sort of silly to buy the Carrera with the training wheels.

I've driven both. I prefer (and own) the C4S. I love the steering, the grip, and the fat ***. Can't go wrong with either, of course. Drive both and decide--it's the only way to know.
"Training wheels"! That's funny, old man--I mean "edgy"!
P.S. "much more components" equals about 130 extra pounds, certainly not insignificant, but I'm sure there are people on this board who weigh that much more than I do!

Wow ricster. Poser? Lets think of all the brands that embrace the AWD setup...
Then again, maybe you don't like the hips. Unless you track it, I doubt seriously the average 911 driver can tell the difference in dynamics between the 2 cars, until things go slightly wrong and the pendulum of the rear biased weight attempts to overtake the front. Mine will never see snow but I drive it in the rain and I appreciate the AWD.
Not mentioned above, the frunk is smaller in the 4s.

On the 997.2 with the way the power is delivered, you get most of the tactility and agility of a C2S in the C4S along with the safety blanket for foul weather. It's 55 kg heavier, more so if you add adaptive sport seats, PSE, Bose etc. For the PNW it's an easy decision for me but for California, if I were in the market now and am really enamoured by the wide hips, I would go with GTS (especially if you get a good deal as Porsche has thrown in quite a few options as standard). But the real bargain might be all the C2S that are remaining in their inventory as it in it's own right is one heck of a car.

Although I recommended C2S, contrary to some have said, you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT feel the weight in C4S, and the steering feel is just as good, AND the added weight is at the right end that benefits the whole dynamics of the car! Also, there's definitely more stability and traction all around the year.
Having said that, for CA, I'd still pickup a C2S for reasons I stated earlier.

+1 C2S for SoCal. I personally prefer the feel of 2wd vs. AWD. Don't need the AWD traction in TX(likely sunny SoCal as well) and if it rains heavily(that would be a nice break from our 3 yrs drought) or the roads ice over(maybe once during winter) we just drive our 4x4 trucks or SUV's instead.
