Uhhh... The P's ads I've seen show driving kids in the snow, picking up fertilizer, an executive sitting in it listeng to the engine, and a mom in a a yellow TT picking kids up from school. Not exactly spirited driving. Maybe their mandate HAS changed...

i see,so it is an 2005 car, so it had older bearing. too bad, sorry about your loss.
i did 13 DE events this season, car has about of 24 DEs total and 2.5 full seasons of auto-x events(40 or so days, 6-8 runs per day) which may be even worse than DEs for a motor. so far it is alive.
As of IMS death, it is unlikely to be temperature related, it is vibrations and bad lubrication what kills it as i understand. temperature and stress kills cam chain, temperature and cooling issues kill 6th cylinder, as of other stuff it is due to how fate will decide.
>So if you send back an M96 engine, you get an M96 engine
that is what i say we should petition against as it is a total BS. they have new problem free 9a1 motor, it fits any 997.1 car just fine mechanically and all it takes is Porsche free will to allow this to happen.

It's "officially" a 2006 model...a 997S. But the door panel shows 09/05 manufacture date. Does anyone know when the first 2006 models came out of the factory? This must have been one of the first.
Oh, and forget about "driving a $100,000 car." I bought it two-years-old for $68,000, and it's now worth south of $40,000...even WITH a brand new engine.

i find it hard to believe that you are going to get a motor without the upgrades, why would porsche sell you a motor with the same problem?

Besides, you can bet that there would be EPA and probably DOT issues with warranty replacement with a completely different lump from a vehicle four years newer.

it is not only possible, it was already done and more than once. not as 'plug-and-play', but it is possible. and adjustnent of ECU signal bus is not that big of a deal for a big company to make it 'plug and play'. toyota went via much more expensive process to deal just with gas pedals.
