I experienced road rage this last month while driving my Cayenne with my wife to the beach in St. Peterburg FL going through a toll plaza and trying to merge back into traffic. A guy in a old Dodge pick up truck got pissed I and a few others were trying to merge and he threw a hand full of change at my Cayenne denting the side door, window frame and chipping the window.
I got his tag number and called the police. They did not really want to do anything about it. I pressed on gave them his tag number and they called it in. They said they would be back in an hour with a line up of pictures. This guy has obviously been arrested before and I pointed him right out. The police went to the other side of my car and my wife pointed out the same guy.
His mug shot lined up with the tag number I gave the police so we were right on track and the police said they would go question him. The police paid him a visit and of course this guy said he didn't do anything and doesn't know what they are talking about. So far the police have done nothing about this.
Is it worth it to pursue this and press the police to go after this guy?

I think it is. In addition to your own peace of mind, you'd be doing a great service to other drivers who might come across this idiot in future. Maybe he'll think twice about pulling stunts like this in future if he gets a little heat from local law enforcement over your incident. One question, given where you were there has to be a strong possibility the incident was captured on CCTV. Might it be worth checking with the local highways agency to see if they have anything? Either way, I agree there are bigger things in life to worry about but idiots like this only act like the idiots they are because there usually aren't any consequences. You have the opportunity to make sure there are (at least some) consequences here.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

A guy in a pickup truck takes anger at a Porsche? Unheard of...
Sorry to hear about your incident. Really, stuff like this pisses me off. Although I was trying to lighten things up with humor, it is my experience that most people who try to bother me on the highway are pickup trucks. I’ve heard this from other Porsche owners. I simply let them go—I have a lot more to lose and, by all means, nothing to gain.
You asked our opinion as to follow up. Here’s mine: don’t bother pursuing. It will only anger you more. Claim your insurance, get your beautiful truck restored, and forget it. You have more to lose and, by all means, nothing to gain.

Keep pressing the cops to do something. Where there any witnesses?
if you have a lawyer friend, file a civil suit.
whats the correaltion b/w Pickup drivers and P drivers?

not unheard of.
one time I merged my C2S onto a road and ended up in front of an old pickup truck. The truck immediately pulled onto the right lane and then cut right in front of me...
I think there are significant number of drivers out there that are not happy with others driving nicer cars than them.

Although we all have to pick our battles to pursue, if we all sit back and allow this crap to happen it will happen more frequently in the future. The guy is obviously a nut and needs to get dialed in by the authorities. Ask the police what they are doing for your tax dollars. What's the point in having a police state (did I say that?) if they are going to enforce some behavioral rules?

Get your insurance company involved and let them chase after it. I agree that life is too short and time is too precious to chase after a lowlife.

Today it's coins.
Tomorrow it's batteries or ball bearings or rocks. Then it's a full-on side swipe.
As I wrote on the other board, this is an assault.
The coins hit your window, right?
Get them to file.
Let your insurance company file the civil case.

Do you have any of the coins this character threw at your car? They might have fingerprints on them and that would give you a positive ID (beyond the one you and your wife gave).
I would press on with this case. As other have said, he will keep escalating if he keeps getting away with this behavior.
