91 octane, whatever brand is handy/cheap. At high altitude, higher octane is a waste.

Shell is a top-2 brand in central Oklahoma. Shell refines exactly zero percent of the fuel it sells here. They appreciate your loyalty to the brand, however, because it makes shopping for price a secondary concern.

It's all about the additives. Top Tier gas satisfies minimum additive requirements. Chevron has Techron.

BP for a long time, but now Kroger shopping points knock 10c/gal off the price of Shell and even more off at a Kroger gas station (a little harder to find), so Shell it is!

Union 76 or Chevron for everyday use (91 octane is what's routinely available here in CA). For autox I blend in Sunoco 100 to get a mix that's 93 octane minimum.

don't know whose minimums you are referring to, but every drop that comes out of the terminal meets EPA minimums. Additional additives are then added by some brands in order to differentiate their fuel offer (otherwise known as a commodity--for a reason). Top Tier, Techron, etc are nothing more than marketing ploys.

Believe me, when somebody develops a gasoline that is better for your vehicle, whether it makes your engine last longer or gets you better fuel efficiency, you will hear about it on the NEWS. That would be a truly newsworthy event, given that every adult driver has money in their pockets, and the news channels' objective is to reach CONSUMERS.

Otherwise the only place you will be hearing about fancy/superior/newfangled fuels is in the major brand marketing programs/materials. A very interesting story would be the truth behind the alliance between select auto manufacturers and refiners in the marketing of "Top Tier" fuels. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Gasoline by itself is all the same; additives vary. Top Tier refers to additives. Techron is not a marketing ploy. MB and PCNA recommend Top Tier gas for a reason...

Many here post about 'bad gas' events. They were all non Top Tier gas customers.

The OP asked about gas brands and many members stated they prefer Chevron, Union 76, Shell... call it Top Tier or not, those are safe gas brands... in my opinion.

Shell, BP, Chevron 93 octane or better.

No "generics" for the 997.

For the rest of my fleet? The less expensive the better
