I always ask if I can park it myself where they can keep an eye on it, then I tip the guy $5.

I always keep the keys

Isnt that a little redundant? I like the six switch "code"

really? First, in most situations, the valet is going about 500 to 1000ft at most. 2nd, most valets don't abuse cars...the ones that do tend to get caught and people make a big deal out of it.

I quite frankly don't care....If I'm at a decent restaurant, I'll let them valet either the s500 or the 993. Never been let down.

I have insurance.

I wouldn't do that. The valet might try to "force" the key to work and ruin the door lock or ignition lock.

If you don't care then life is pretty easy on you !

Personally, I probably care too much and the damage that they are likely to do such as a ding or scrape isn't covered by insurance !

a ding is a $150 expense with a pdr guy. A scrape...well, those can be fixed too.

Mines $750 I think.

Does it suck? sure. Am I gonna spend time worrying about it instead of enjoying a lovely dinner? not for a minute.

I had a valet parker admit to me that they would drive the car 100 feet into the parking garage out of site, then out the back of the garage into a grass field and do donuts at redline.

Take a taxi, order a nice bottle of wine and enjoy your dinner instead of worrying about your car.

Depending on how much wine I had at dinner I would probably notice if my car came back cover with grass like a riding mower...

That might have been someone like me.
When I see a Porsche in a lot, I usually park my beater to the right side of them (at max distance the space allows) to "guard" against dings.
