The cup holder locks into place if you push the center piece in after opening it.

The button to wash your headlamps (if equipped) is hidden underneath the right-hand stalk for the windshield washers.

Tip: If you use anything other than distilled water (hard tap water, bug remover solution, etc.) in your washer fluid reservoir, don't push this button. Just head straight to the nearest car wash to wash the headlamps, cuz the headlamp washers will cover the entire car with spray and you'll want to wash the car anyway.

And the nozzles are heated and are activated automatically every ten times you wash the front windshield.

motion sensor will be active whenever you lock the car, alarm will sound when it detects a movement inside the cabin.

You can put the top up or down at 37 mph indicated although the owners manual states 35mph, must be actual.

Buying this car is only the beginning of your expenses. Last year I spent $3100 in maintenance/tires. This year I "got away" with only $2005. I guess that's why I named my 997 "Ol' Money Pit".

My experience is opposite. I think that for the kind of car it is, the Porsche is quite maintenance free, especially compared to Italian exotics. Yes, the tires and oil changes aren't cheap, but they can be anticipated and budgeted for. And oil changes aren't as bad at Indy shops as at many dealers.

Well, I went to my dealer for an oil change and left paying for that plus two 19" Pirelli rear tires plus a replacement for a leaking coolant cap plus freon for a total of $2005. I wasn't cheated. Just wish the tires on the 911 lasted a bit longer.

If the turn signal stalk is depressed when the car is off, the front and rear corner lights (on that side only) are dimly illuminated. This is a cool feature when parking along a street at night. The dash will indicate "Parking light on"

Whipped into a parking spot and left the turn signal flashing when I turned off the car. Couldn't figure out why I had the "parking light on" message on the dash. Thought I had an electrical gremlin until I remembered the turn signal feature.

Thought my light washers didn't work--don't have much use for them in Georgia. Tried pushing the little button on the wiper stalk just to see how they worked--NOTHING. Tried them again the other day with the sunroof open and the windows down (and THE HEADLIGHTS ON !!). Holy crap!

Headlight washers only work when the headlights are on (go figure)!

Cup holders are designed as a secret message from enginners at Porsche. If you decode it, the message appears: DO NOT DRINK and DRIVE.

I do like doing my own maintenance. Oil changes. Brakes,s etc. Satisfaction of saving money and a job well done.

Unless a stealth one Radio Detection And Ranging detector in your 997 will help you getting a speeding ticket from the officer who pulled you over more than in almost any other marque
