Thanks Charles. Do people need to certify to install, or could my local indy do it?
It is not required to use a certified shop to have your IMS Retrofit or IMS Solution fitted. Your local indy should be able to do it, just be sure to have them follow our guidelines including registration.
2nd owner 2006 997S with 24K. No IMS issues. Great car but oil comsumption more than my 1999 3.4 996 I owned. Great car!
No real reason to worry about 997 ims bearing failure with the non-serviceable intermediate shaft bearing on the 06-08 model years.
Just pull the grease seal off the original bearing when you go in to do the clutch next. That's all that you need to do (steps required to do so are provided in the above link).

Thanks for the additional information Charles. At about 78,000 on my 2006 997.1 C2S (I'm the original owner), the dealer was telling me to get the IMS replaced with the "Porsche IMS." I would also have gotten the clutch replaced and probably had some bore scoring(had some symptoms when I was using cheap gas . As I still love the car, I decided to buy Jake Raby's FSI Stage II. Had it installed by a car restorer (at 79,127 miles) who cleared everything through Jake/FSI during the installation and also performed additional fixes. As a result, I have your LN IMS fix (IMSS54055) and your other fine components in my new engine. WORTH IT!!!
